• A policeman in the lookout station to Canalave City says "Boy... I sure am thirsty... ". This is a reference to the thirsty guards in the lookout stations on Route 5, 6, 7, and 8, who prevented access to Saffron City.
• The route itself, however short it may be, is most likely a reference to Route 12 and the Silence Bridge in Kanto, that joins Lavender Town and Routes 11 and 13.
