Location Location of Spring Path in Sinnoh. |
The Spring Path (Japanese: 隠れ泉への道 Path to the Hidden Spring) is a short path off the main area of Route 214 that leads into Sendoff Spring. In Hisui, it is mapped under the northwestern portion of the Cobalt Coastlands and covers a wider area. Turnback Cave is accessible from the Spring Path.
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, this path only appears after the player has entered the Hall of Fame and obtained the National Pokédex. In Pokémon Platinum, the path appears after the player escapes the Distortion World to Sendoff Spring, allowing the player to exit to Route 214.
In Diamond, Pearl, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl, the background music is the same as in the Old Chateau. In Platinum, the background music is the same as in Route 214.
There are no wild Pokémon on this short path in Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl, but there are in Legends: Arceus.

Diamond & Pearl arc
The Spring Path debuted in Shorting Out Electivire, where Platinum, Maylene, and Candice had come here to train with Volkner after their defeat at the hands of Jupiter at Lake Acuity. At first, Volkner was unwilling to train with them, having only come in hopes of facing the opponent who had been strong enough to defeat two Gym Leaders together. However, Platinum managed to convince Volkner to stay, and started a battle with him, all the while describing Jupiter's tactics to Volkner and demonstrating them with her own Pokémon.
As the battle progressed, Volkner told Platinum that if she would be able to defeat all of his Pokémon, he'd reward her with a Beacon Badge, just like in an official Gym battle. Eventually Platinum managed to beat the Leader of the Sunyshore Gym, earning her her eighth and final Badge.
In Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia VI, Volkner, who had ignored the call to join the other Gym Leaders to fight Team Galactic at the Spear Pillar and was instead hanging out at the Spring Path, noticed a black portal over the Sendoff Spring, and informed Flint about it.
Platinum arc
In The Final Dimensional Duel V, Volkner and Flint traveled through the Spring Path on their way to the Sendoff Spring, intending to go battle Giratina in the Distortion World.
Trivia
- In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the music for this area (and potentially the surrounding areas of Route 214, Sendoff Spring, and Turnback Cave) will be missing instruments or stop playing based upon certain actions:
- Entering or leaving the area
- Starting a battle
- Getting on or off the Bicycle or a Surfing Pokémon
- Using the Poké Radar
- Hatching an Egg
- Opening a sub-menu:
- Pokédex, Party, Bag, Trainer Card, Options, and certain registered items (Town Map, Journal, Pal Pad, and Poffin Case)
- The German translation of Spring Path's name in Generation IV games contains an error stemming from the word "spring" having different meanings — both a source of water, which is the intended meaning, and a season, with the German version using the latter meaning. This error was fixed in the remakes.
