In the movie adaptations
Bonji appeared in I Choose You!. After Ash, Verity, and Sorrel arrived at the Raizen Mountains, Bonji appeared and told them about the wild Pokémon residing there. He was searching for Ho-Oh for 20 years and saw that Ash had the Rainbow Wing. As such, he went with the group to where Ho-Oh was going to be.
After Marshadow was freed from the evil in the tainted Rainbow Wing and Ash was able to get a new one, Bonji advised Ash to place the Rainbow Wing on the rainbow rock. As a result, a rainbow formed and Ho-Oh appeared. After Ash battled Ho-Oh, Bonji then bade Ash his farewells.
