Galen (Japanese: ギジュ Guijeau) is Captain Phantom's second-in-command, and the secondary antagonist of Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea.
In the anime
Galen was ordered by The Phantom to attack the group when returning from the stream, in which his Beedrill used multiple Sludge Bomb and Pin Missile attacks, but Pikachu countered with a Thunderbolt, allowing them to escape.
He was later commanded again to attack, this time with the ship's Supersonic, which put all of the surrounding Pokémon in a confused state. Later, after Kyogre destroyed the ship, Galen goes unseen until the closing credits.
During the ending credits, it was revealed that he was sharing the same jail cell as his Captain.
Galen briefly reappeared in a montage in The Rise of Darkrai, which chronicled the preceding nine movies.
Character
Galen is more levelheaded compared to The Phantom's maniacal and ambitious personality, though he doesn't question his superior's ideas and follows through on his orders.
