Trivia

The three silhouettes on Pokémon Sunday

Origin

Tepig is based on a saddleback piglet. It and its evolutions, as stated by Ken Sugimori, were designed in a Chinese style.

Name origin

Tepig may be a combination of "tepid", meaning lukewarm, '"temperature" and "pig". Pokabu is derived from ぽかぽか pokapoka, warmth circulating through one's body, combined with 豚 buta, pig; or ブー , "oink".

In other languages

  • French: Gruikui - Derived from "grui grui" (french for the pig's oink) and cuit (cooked).
  • German: Floink
