Faraway Island (Japanese: さいはてのことう Furthest-away Island) is an island located far away from Hoenn, which is only available in Pokémon Emerald. Its location appears on the Old Sea Map and Captain Briney returns a favor by the ship in Lilycove City to sail to this far-off island.
Sign
On the island is a sign with old, fading writing dated either September, October, November, or December 6. It seems to be a reference to Mr. Fuji and the creation of Mewtwo. It also ends in a signature of which only remains ジ which, for unknown reasons, was not included in the international releases of Emerald. If this is true, this means that Fuji, for whatever reason, returned to Faraway Island after the Mewtwo project. This island could also possibly be the South American area referenced in the Pokémon Mansion journals, which was described as a jungle in Guyana.

The writing is fading as if it was
written a long time ago...
"...ber, 6th day

...ith that hope, I depar..."
The possible sentence on the sign in the English versions could be:
- (Month), 6th day. If any human being sets foot here ever again, let it be a kindhearted person. With that hope, I depart.
- —Fuji

Meeting Mew at Faraway Island
A single Mew is found on this island. When it is engaged in battle, the battle music theme is a remix of either Battle (VS Legendary Pokémon) (Japanese: 戦い(VS伝説のポケモン)) or Battle (VS Mewtwo) (Japanese: 戦い(VSミュウツー)) from FireRed and LeafGreen.
