Extreme Speed (Japanese: しんそく Swiftness), formatted as ExtremeSpeed prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation III, it was the signature move of Arcanine.

Effect

Generations II to IV

Extreme Speed inflicts damage and is an increased priority move. If the target does not use an increased priority move during the round that it is used, Extreme Speed will go first regardless of the user's or target's speed. If the target also uses a move with an increased priority of +1 during the same round that the user uses Extreme Speed, the attack order of the users will be determined normally. If the user is put to sleep or frozen during the round that Extreme Speed is (or is attempted to be) used, Extreme Speed's increased speed priority will not be reset. Subsequently, it will only be reset on the turn after the user wakes up or is defrosted, or if the user switches out.

Extreme Speed now has +2 priority.

Lucario uses Extreme Speed as its up special move. When activated, Lucario performs a quick dash. Moving in different directions alters which directions Lucario will move. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this move did no damage and moved at a set distance. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, in addition to doing damage, when Lucario builds up more aura, the move travels farther and does more damage.
