Electivire (Japanese: エレキブル Elekible) is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.
It evolves from Electabuzz when traded while holding an Electirizer. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it evolves from Electabuzz when exposed to an Electirizer instead. It is the final form of Elekid.
Biology
Electivire is a large, humanoid Pokémon covered in yellow fur with black stripes. It appears to lack a neck and has red eyes, a black spot on its forehead, and a pair of antennae with bulbous tips. A pattern on Electivire's back resembles an electric outlet. The fur on its cheeks and shoulders is spiky and ruffled. It has two black tails with red rounded ends, resembling open electrical wires. Electivire has black feet with three, clawed toes, and five black fingers on each of its hands.
Electivire is said to have the best electrical-energy output of all Electric-type Pokémon, and has very impressive physical strength. Electivire is known to be recklessly careless regarding enemy attacks. The tips of its tails generate electricity, which shock opponents on contact with over 20,000 volts. It can also electrify its punches by gripping on to its tails. Blue sparks fly between its antennae as its electric charge amplifies. It thumps its chest when excited, causing thunder and sparks to fly around it. The voltage it makes can increase when it is battling. The amount of electric energy it can produce depends on Electivire's pulse. Electivire usually feeds off electric currents. In the anime, Electivire has been seen eating fruits from trees. A single Electivire is capable of powering a large city for an entire year.

Trivia
Voldon's Electivire Costume
- Electivire shares its category with Zebstrika. They are both known as the Thunderbolt Pokémon.
- Coincidentally, both can also have Motor Drive as their Ability.
- Electivire's evolutionary family may be considered a counterpart of Magmortar's. Both evolve starting at Level 30 and whose evolved forms evolve via trading with an item containing the suffix "-izer" . Both have the same gender ratio (75% male, 25% female), and both are typically exclusive to one version of a pair of games. They both have similar status-inducing Abilities in Flame Body and Static, as well as the same Hidden Ability, Vital Spirit. Their evolutionary relatives were also released in the same generation (Generation I and II).
- Electivire, along with Magmortar, Gliscor, and Tangrowth, are the only Generation IV Pokémon that explicitly required the use of a Generation III game in order to be available until the release of Pokémon Platinum. In this case, both the Electirizer and Elekid are only available through dual-slot mode with Pokémon FireRed.
- This excludes the special Electivire available through Battle Revolution.
- An Electivire Costume is worn by Voldon in Pokémon Battle Revolution.
- Electivire was the only Generation IV Pokémon in the anime that debuted before Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl without debuting in a movie first.
Origin
Electivire may be based on an oni, a horned ogre that sometimes has powers of thunder and lightning and often wore tiger skin loincloths which are usually yellow with black stripes. Due to its shaggy appearance, Electivire may also be based on a Namahage, demons portrayed by men wearing oni masks, which tend to have long hair, and wore straw capes. It may also be based on a Yeti, an ape-like cryptid that was said to inhabit the Himalayas. Its design and Motor Drive Ability are similar to an electric motor, while the mark on its back resembles a socket. Its horns may be based on Tesla coils.
Name origin
Electivire may be a combination of electric or electricity and wire (referring to its cord-like tails) or live wire.
Elekible may be a combination of electric, エレキ eleki (electric), or electricity and cable.
