In the movie, Shaymin is the Gratitude Pokémon. Shaymin can communicate with telepathy. It has a slight problem of arrogance and it is always talking about the gratitude that the people should have towards it. Its deadly experience from being caught in the middle of Giratina and Dialga's fight caused Shaymin to grow a habit of running from everything and screaming that it is going to be eaten, even to people who have no intention of doing so. Shaymin seems to complain a lot, saying things like "The water felt good but was too cold," or "And you could have washed me a little more gently!", which sometimes annoys the group. Shaymin always talks of "that place" and Ash gets irritated with Shaymin because he doesn't know what it's talking about. At first, Shaymin seems to like Dawn more, and likes to be held by her. When Dawn's not holding Shaymin, it rides on Ash's head and often jerks him around saying things like "It's this way! No, this way!" to him. Shaymin sometimes blows black smoke in his face or insults him, calling him stupid when he cannot answer a question, or doesn't understand something. At first Ash seemed to not like Shaymin that much either-- On a train that the group boards, the passengers say that Shaymin is cute and sweet, but Ash says that it's nasty and explodes at random. Shaymin snaps back that it doesn't do that to NICE people. Shaymin eventually develops a strong bond with Ash and Dawn. Shaymin battles against Giratina and later against Zero, with Ash and Giratina, and they end up defeating him. At the end of the movie, they finally reach the flower garden of Glacidea. Crying, Shaymin says a final "Thank you..." to the group and scurries off to live with the other Shaymin that reside there. Then they all change into their Sky Formes and fly off together.
