Wayward Cave's secret area

The Wayward Cave (Japanese: まよいのどうくつ Lost Cave) is a two-story cave in Sinnoh. Flash and Rock Smash are needed to navigate it, but the cave itself is optional. It is located on Route 206, beneath the Cycling Road.

There is a side quest inside the cave where the player can join a NPC trainer named Mira and lead her out of the cave.

There is a hidden entrance directly under Cycling Road west of the main Wayward Cave entrance. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (but not in Pokémon Platinum), Strength is required to enter this area.

Trivia

• Gible being obtainable in a secret portion of this cave is reminiscent of how Bagon was obtained in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, beyond the waterfall in Meteor Falls. Both evolve into pseudo-legendary dragon-type Pokémon, Garchomp and Salamence, respectively.
  • These two Pokémon also required a HM move to clear them, with Strength and Waterfall being for Gible and Bagon respectively. However, this changes in Platinum where one can get Gible as soon as they can access Wayward Cave.
• This is the only area in Generation IV which requires Flash to use.
