Bianca (Japanese: カノン Kanon) is a primary character in Pokémon Heroes. She is the granddaughter of Lorenzo and the best friend of Latias, who has a tendency to shapeshift into her. Bianca has a hairstyle similar to Latias's but can usually be identified by the white beret she wears. It appears she wishes to be a painter or possibly a Pokémon Watcher similar to Tracey Sketchit. She is a nice girl but can be harsh and defensive at times. She is voiced by 折笠富美子 Fumiko Orikasa in Japanese and by Lisa Ortiz in English.
Bianca first appears in the museum, drawing some of the stain glass windows in the museum. Ash is distracted by her, since he previously saved Latias in the form of Bianca and believes she is the same girl he rescued. Wanting to know why she disappeared after he saved "her", Ash and Pikachu pursue her across Alto Mare, finally catching up to her on the other side of the bridge, but Bianca is confused by his questions and quickly departs. Ash loses track of Bianca but instead follows Latias to the secret garden. As Latios attacks Ash, Bianca appears and believes Ash is the one attacking. Lorenzo soon appears and stops the fighting, Bianca believing that Ash was trying to harm Latios. She soon learns the truth and apologizes for her actions, becoming friends with Ash. She is later captured along with Lorenzo in the museum and held hostage, and tells Latios to use Sight Sharing to bring Ash and Latias to the museum. Bianca and Lorenzo are freed and help save Latios from being tortured. Bianca is deeply upset by Latios's sacrificial death and receives the new Soul Dew.
The conclusion of the film briefly sees her finishing a drawing. The drawing, which is of Ash and Pikachu, is given to Ash by either Bianca, who had left her hat on her easel, or Latias in the form of Bianca: which is the case is the subject of debate. When Ash received the sketch, the girl kissed him. It is unknown if this was Bianca or Latias. Bianca is seen again in the credits drawing another sketch by the harbor.
Subject of debate
The question of "who kissed Ash" is very vague and widely debated. Since the scene is pressed up against the end of the movie, there are not many clues after the scene as to who was where. This aside, there still are some points of argument for each side.
Arguments for Bianca
- Lorenzo states that Binca must have gone to town at the end of the movie. Given that she did go there, she is never with out her beret the entire movie. She must have had a motive to leave her beret at home, which could have been to fool Ash.
- However, she may still have simply gone to town without her beret, and still nobody knows just how many berets she had. She may have been wearing one and left one at home.
- At the end of the movie when Ash and his friends are leaving Alto Mare in a boat, Ash and Pikachu notice two Latios and a Latias flying back towards Alto Mare, glimmering in the sun. Later in the credits is a scene of the hidden garden, where twice there are only three shadows chasing each other; It is very likely that the Latias flying towards AltoMare was the same Latias throughout the whole movie. This could imply that Latias was far away during the kissing scene.
- In the American release of the movie on DVD, there was a quiz bonus game. One of the question on this game went as follows: "What did Bianca give to Ash [at the end of the movie]...". The answer was the picture of Pikachu and himself. This might be considered proof directly from the Pokémon Company that it was Bianca that kissed Ash.
Arguments for Latias
- Latias grew a great attration to Ash and constantly came to him when in trouble. Most notably is when Latios was captured and Latias came directly to Ash, crying and wanting support.
