Eclipse Festival
The Eclipse Festival (Japanese: 日蝕祭 Eclipse Festival) is an animated series-exclusive event that is held annually at Eclipse Castle in Johto. It celebrates solar eclipses, during which the moon moves in front of the sun for a short period.
In the distant past, the Eclipse Festival saw an attack by Luno, who was attempting to take from the throne from his older brother Sorin, the liege of Eclipse Castle at the time. The attack failed thanks to Sorin's Espeon and Umbreon, causing Luno and his family to go into hiding out of shame.
In Night and Day, You are the Ones!, Ash, Goh, and Chloe visited Eclipse Castle during the festival in order to meet an Espeon and Umbreon. While there, Chloe met Sorin's descendant Soleil, who was set to become the new liege and who also happened to be her doppelgänger. Luno's descendant Ilunas was aiming to become the liege of Eclipse Castle instead and kidnapped Chloe, mistaking her for Soleil. As Soleil was about to become the new liege, Ilunas launched an attack, only to be stopped by Soleil and an escaped Chloe. In the end, Soleil and Ilunas settled their differences and Soleil replaced her grandmother Helia as the liege of Eclipse Castle.
