Galvanize (Japanese: エレキスキン Electric Skin) is an Ability introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature Ability of Alolan Geodude's evolutionary line.
Effect
In battle
Generation VII
Galvanize causes all Normal-type moves used by the Pokémon to become Electric-type and receive a 20% power boost. Normal type moves that become Electric type in this manner can activate Lightning Rod, Volt Absorb, and Motor Drive. If a move is affected by Galvanize and is used under Electric Terrain, it will receive an additional 30% power boost from Electric Terrain (50% prior to Generation VIII).
Generation VIII
This Ability effect may be in need of research. Reason: What happens if Gigantamax Pikachu/Toxtricity with Galvanize tries to use Max Strike? You can discuss this on the talk page. |
If Max Strike is selected with Galvanize, it turns into Max Lightning when used.
Affected moves
The table below lists the moves affected by Galvanize, as well as the Pokémon that can have Galvanize and learn those moves.
|
Although the following moves are affected by the Ability, they currently cannot be learned by any Pokémon with Galvanize. They may, however, be called via Metronome, Mirror Move, Copycat, or Mimic, or be used by a Pokémon that gained Galvanize by an Ability like Trace or Receiver or a move such as Skill Swap or Role Play.
Outside of battle
Galvanize has no effect outside of battle.
