Kdex

This is a list of Pokémon in the order dictated by the Kanto regional Pokédex, meaning that the first partner Pokémon from Kanto will appear first, followed by Pokémon native to the Kanto region.

This Pokédex, which was introduced in Generation I, is the first regional Pokédex. The numbering in this Pokédex would serve as the basis for the official listing of all Pokémon introduced, with subsequent generations' Pokémon being added on to the end, with the name of "Old Pokédex" in Generation II and then the "National Pokédex" ever since, starting with Generation III. For more info on this expanded number listing see this list.

Changes between generations

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

With the introduction of the Steel type in Generation II, Magnemite and Magneton had their types changed from being pure Electric-type to Electric/Steel-types. This change was reflected in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!

With the introduction of the Fairy type in Generation VI, Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, and Mr. Mime had their types changed from pure Normal-type (Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, and Wigglytuff) and pure Psychic-types (Mr. Mime) to pure Fairy, Normal/Fairy, and Psychic/Fairy respectively. This change was reflected in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.

Additionally, Meltan and Melmetal were added to the Pokédex, expanding the total to 153 Pokémon. Alolan forms were also added to the Pokédex but are counted as forms of the original Kanto versions rather than a separate entry.

Every Pokémon in this regional Pokédex (excluding the Mythical Pokémon Mew) can be either seen or obtained without any trading or events in Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!

Trivia

  • In Generation I, the Kanto Pokédex was the first available regional Pokédex, although the term "regional Pokédex" was only introduced later in Generation III.
  • In Generation I, Golem, Porygon, Kabutops, Omastar, and Mew are the only five Pokémon that cannot legitimately be seen without also being owned outside of glitches.
  • This is the regional Pokédex that has appeared in most generations (Generations I, III, and VII) and most core series games (8 games in Japan; 7 games outside of Japan).
  • In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Kanto Pokédex was the first regional Pokédex with some incomplete evolutionary lines. There are several Pokémon in this Pokédex with one or more evolutions or pre-evolutions (such as Pichu, Bellossom, Crobat, etc.) that are not featured in it despite being available in-game.
  • This is the only regional Pokédex with no baby Pokémon.
