Shep's shipmates: Zabu (left), Gabu (middle), and Dabu (right)

Shep's old shipmates are minor supporting characters who appeared in Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea that used to travel with Shep around the world on his vessel, the Blue Lagoon. Individually, they are known as Gabu (Japanese: ガブ Gabu), Dabu (Japanese: ダブ Dabu), and Zabu (Japanese: ザブ Zabu). The trio keeps the Blue Lagoon in good order and in storage while Shep is busy traveling with his family as a part of the Marina Group.

History

Dabu, Gabu, and Zabu chartered the Blue Lagoon to a small coastal town, allowing Shep to escort his family, Jack Walker, and Manaphy to Samiya. The trio hoped to join him and the others, but Shep politely declined their offer and offered to catch up with them upon his return. Later, they encouraged Ash and his friends to go after the departing ship when May overheard Manaphy's crying, thus giving them an opportunity to join Shep's group in their expedition.

They were seen again during the ending credits, where it was revealed that they had been waiting for the Blue Lagoon to return. The trio later took Shep and the others to a hangar where the Marina Group's vehicle was in storage, and then waved Ash and his friends goodbye.

Character

Gabu, Dabu, and Zabu are a trio who have a thrill for adventure and commonly reminisce on their youth. As a result of their advanced age, they seemed to accept the fact that they should not accompany Shep on his voyage to Samiya, but they also immediately understood that Ash and his friends desperately wanted to tag along and were more than capable to do so. As a result, they encouraged them to join Shep's group on their voyage while they still had a chance.
