Solve the Case! (Part 2) (Japanese: 事件の謎を追え! 後編 Follow the Mystery of the Case! Part 2) was a costume event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul and Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy. This event's story was a continuation of Solve the Case! (Part 1).
During this event, players could earn vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul or Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Steven (Special Costume) & Stoutland, Shauna (Special Costume) & Klefki, Looker & Croagunk, or Emma & Crobat to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Hoenn or Johto theme skill to obtain 0.2× bonus vouchers.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.
First run
The event first ran from April 13 to May 2, 2023. The "Zinnia Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul for the duration of the event, and the "Lyra Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy starting on April 15, 2023 and lasting until the end of the event.
In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher G. Event mission rewards included medals, Gems, Battle Points, a Tech Move Candy Coin, and a Support Move Candy Coin, with 200 Gems as a reward for completing 10 missions.
Second run
The event reran from March 11 to 25, 2024. The "Super Spotlight Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Steven (Special Costume) & Stoutland, Shauna (Special Costume) & Klefki, Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul, and Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy for the duration of the event.
In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher P. Event mission rewards included medals and Gems, with 1,000 Gems as a reward for completing all missions.
Due to a bug, when the rerun began, only Challenge Team Break: Part 1 counted towards the requirements for Missions 1-6. This issue was resolved on March 14, 2024 so that completing any of the designated areas would be counted correctly, and any of the designated areas that players had already completed were reflected in the count.

Steven and seven other sync pairs completed Lear's mystery game. But once the game was over, someone stole Guzma's partner Pokémon!
Guzma | Who did this?! Who took my Golisopod?! |
Shauna | Calm down, Guzma! |
Guzma | Don't tell me to calm down! Someone just STOLE my Pokémon! |
Steven | Hm? Hold on, Guzma. |

Guzma | Wh-what is it?! |
Steven | Don't move. There's something stuck to your back. |

Lyra | Huh? What's a "Phantom Imaginate"? |

Lear | No, I know nothing of this! |
Lyra | So that means...Golisopod really was stolen? |
Looker | In that case! |
(Looker strikes a pose)
Looker | It's time for me, a member of the International Police, to step in! Steven! After seeing your detective skills, I want to ask you something. I'd like your help investigating this Phantom Imaginate person so we can catch them! |
Steven | Of course! I'd be happy to assist. |
Shauna | I'll help, too! I was the culprit in the game, but I'll do my best to assist this time! |
Lyra | We'll help out, too! |
Guzma | You better be ready, Phantom! I'm gonna find you and crush you! |
(City; Steven is talking to Emma and Looker; Shauna arrives)
Shauna | I've collected some information about the Phantom Imaginate. ♪ |
Steven | Did you come across anything that could be a clue? |
Shauna | Um... Let me tell you what I found, in order. Apparently, the Phantom Imaginate is a recent urban legend going around Pasio. They say anything you ask the Phantom Imaginate to steal will be stolen... If you want to send a request, you give your letter to Thievul, the Phantom's partner Pokémon. But whether or not they accept your request is up to the Phantom. If the Phantom is accepting requests, does that mean they don't want anything for themself? |
Looker | I've found something peculiar on my end, too. I checked to see if the Phantom was involved in any prior incidents. But the Phantom Imaginate doesn't show up in any theft reports. |
Steven | Even though they leave messages? That's odd... |
Looker | Based on what Shauna said, the Phantom's existence is questionable, which explains why there's so little information. |
Emma | I know as much as Mister Looker. I've never heard of them before. |
Looker | Their existence is questionable...but Guzma's partner Pokémon was definitely stolen. We can at least confirm that there's someone out there calling themself the Phantom Imaginate. |
Steven | Calling themself the Phantom, huh... |

Steven | How did you know she's part of Team Flare? |
Shauna | I noticed it when I read the Phantom's messages! For Guzma, it was "the dark obstructer." For the Team Galactic member, it was "a heartless galaxy." The messages were referring to which teams they belong to... So I guessed that "the unsightly flame" might be Team Flare. |
Steven | Great job, Shauna! |
Looker | That means the Phantom Imaginate is targeting people who belong to evil organizations? |
Team Flare Grunt | The Phantom is quite infamous among people like us... They're a pain in the neck who steals back things we stole. |
Looker | That's why there aren't any reports of incidents caused by the Phantom... |
Shauna | So the stolen Pokémon were originally someone else's? |
Team Flare Grunt | No! I caught my Liepard! |
Looker | It's not easy for me to believe you... |
Shauna | I don't think she's lying! She looked really sad when her Pokémon was stolen! And you know Guzma really cares about his Golisopod, right? Even if these people did bad things in the past, that doesn't mean they're the same now! |
Steven | Shauna... |
Team Flare Grunt | ... ... ... |
Looker | OK, for now, let's believe what this Team Flare member is saying. |
Steven | But if that's true, then why did the Phantom change their mind about what they're stealing? I don't think the Phantom is trying to take the law into their own hands. |
