Good Ol' Rika Here (Japanese: まいど!チリちゃんやで Hello! It's Chili) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Rika & Clodsire.
The "Rika Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Rika & Clodsire from the beginning of the event to May 16, 2024.
During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers C from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Rika & Clodsire to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Geeta & Glimmora, Lear & Hoopa, or Whitney & Miltank to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Ground or Paldea theme skills to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
Players could also earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.
Additionally, the music and artwork on the title screen were different than usual. The title screen artwork depicted Rika & Clodsire, and the background music was Battle! (Paldea Elite Four: Rika) (Pokémon Masters EX Version). In addition, a special voice-over line of Rika saying "Pokémon Masters EX" would play as soon as the game's logo appeared on the title screen.
Plot
Lear is planning on unveiling a new sweet to act as Pasio's local specialty, but still lacks a Pokémon whose image to put on the packaging, and asks Geeta for advice. In the middle of their discussion, Rika comes in and suggests that her partner, Clodsire, could be the Pokémon for the job, given its cuteness and chocolate-like coloration. Whitney butts in as well and insists her Miltank would be the perfect mascot for the milk chocolate sweet. While Rika and Whitney befriend each other surprisingly fast, Geeta suggests holding a competition where any willing Trainer can submit videos and photos of their partner, with the final decision being made based on them. Lear agrees to this and publicly announces the contest to decide the mascot for Pasio's signature sweet.
Whitney starts taking photos of Miltank to send to the contest when Rika shows up, complaining that she can't find a fitting photo spot for her Clodsire. Since Clodsire is closely related to Quagsire, Whitney leads her to a stream in a forest, only to find Misty there as well, planning on entering the contest with her Quagsire. Rika is prepared to leave and find another spot, but Misty insists they decide things with a battle. Rika agrees and easily defeats Misty using Clodsire's toughness to endure Quagsire's attacks, though she admits to herself that Misty could actually be stronger than Kofu.
After getting some good photos and videos of their Pokémon, Rika and Whitney are challenged to a battle by two Poké Kids. The children win, and an impressed Rika mentions how a friend of hers is of their age and also a member of the Paldea Elite Four. Rika and Whitney are then approached by Rose, who invites Rika to join Macro Cosmos, having heard of her dedication to her work in the Paldea League. While tempted by the offer, Rika politely turns it down, feeling she's still more needed in her current work. Rose is disappointed to hear the answer, but wishes Rika good luck on her current work regardless.
Rika and Whitney eventually finish taking all the photos and videos they need and submit them, promising to have hard feelings on each other regardless of who wins. A few days later, Lear announces the winning Pokémon, which, to the surprise of both Rika and Whitney, turns out to be Geeta's Glimmora, which Geeta had entered in the contest without the two's knowledge and was chosen based on the themes of affluence and maturity.
