(just noticed in the trailer that they are flexible and sway with the wind, so they're more like antennae rather than horns. again, sorry for editing too much.) |

Koraidon is the game mascot | Koraidon (Japanese: コライドン Koraidon) is a dual-type Legendary Paradox Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
It is said to be an ancient relative of Cyclizar. It also has a future counterpart, Miraidon.
Koraidon has five different Form-like transformations it can change between as it traverses varying terrain and adapts to different situations. Its forms include:
*Limited Build when it has little power.
*Sprinting Build when traveling swiftly on land.
*Swimming Build when traveling in the water.
*Gliding Build when traveling in the skies.
*Apex Build during battle and when at full strength.
Koraidon is the game mascot of Scarlet and Violet, appearing on the game's box art in its Apex Build. It is also known as the "Winged King" (Japanese: ツバサノオウ Tsubasano'ou). Along with Miraidon, it is considered part of the Paradox duo by fans.

Koraidon is a | Koraidon is a large reptile Pokémon. In general, its body is mostly covered in scarlet feathers, with white accents on its cheeks, upper body, thighs, and tail. Koraidon's most prominent feature is the tire-like Gular skin on its throat, which inflates and deflates between its different forms. Its head has a Crest (feathers) and a pair of long, thin, and twisted tendrils; similar feathers are also present on its lower back, around the beginning of its tail. These feathers are blue at the base, purple at the midsection, and white at the tip. Along the crest of feathers, there are singular red plumes near each of its eyes, giving the impression of eyebrows. Its eyes have yellow sclera, orange irises, and brown pupils. It has webbed feet, and blue features on its elbows and shoulders, as well as blue frills running down its neck. From each shoulder, a blue, curved handlebar-like structure protrude backwards. Each foot has four claws, but the two central ones are kept in close contact in some forms, making it appear that there are only three claws. Its gular sac and the base of its tail are both grooved and have similar texture, though its gular sac also has spikes on each section.
== | |||
=== | Koraidon is aware of its own impressive strength and derives confidence from this fact, never feeling threatened by its opponents. It is capricious and curious enough to sometimes play with humans, despite usually being cautious of them. Overall, it shares many resemblances to the modern-day Cyclizar, although Koraidon is described as far more ferocious and burly. Koraidon as a species were brought to the depths of Area Zero by a time machine built by Professor Sada ten years ago. Unlike other Paradox Pokémon, however, only two specimen were brought: Koraidon and a belligerent, territorial one. Despite this, its true origin is unknown: according to AI Sada, Koraidon is an ancient Pokémon related to Cyclizar; however, a Sada brought to the Crystal Pool by Terapagos claims Koraidon to be a counterpart of Cyclizar from another timeline. It was known as the "Winged King" at the time the Scarlet Book was written; its modern-day name, Koraidon, was coined by Professor Sada, possibly as a result of a Temporal paradox#Bootstrap paradox.
=== | |||
The rest of Koraidon's ecology and other details regarding it is unknown.
Koraidon is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Collision Course. It is also the only known Pokémon that can have Orichalcum Pulse as an Ability.
===Forms=== | |||
Koraidon has five forms: Apex Build, Limited Build, Sprinting Build, Swimming Build, and Gliding Build.

|} | |||
;Apex Build | |||
In Apex Build, Koraidon becomes bipedal and assumes a stanced posture. Its head and rear feathers unfold and stand up, with the crest of feathers now resembling a war bonnet. The gular sac on its throat is inflated, revealing a red gear-like pattern; the base of its tail is also more voluminous. Koraidon keeps its claws spread, revealing its white interdigital membranes.
In battle, Koraidon dominates its opponents by using its immense strength and the many natural weapons available to it, such as its tough jaws and fangs, sharp claws, and thick tail. Its legs are strong enough to allow Koraidon to leap over 65 feet into the air, and it can use both its own body weight and the momentum of falling to unleash vicious kicks and body slams as it falls down. It is said to be powerful enough to break the land with just its bare fists. According to Arven, this is Koraidon's true form.
;Limited Build | |||
In Limited Build, Koraidon is quadrupedal. The head and rear plumes are closed and folded. The gular sac on its throat is pulled in, leaving out the rubber tire-like protrusion. The membrane on all four legs is not visible as the central claws are kept in close contact with each other.
Koraidon assumes this form either when weakened or not battling.
;Other forms | |||
Koraidon has the ability to change its form in order to facilitate travel.
In Sprinting Build, Koraidon tucks in its tail and runs on all fours, which allow it to move at very fast speeds and climb cliffs. In Swimming Build, Koraidon's gular sac inflates, allowing it to float in water; it can propel itself by paddling with its webbed feet. In Gliding Build, Koraidon unravels the twisted tendrils on its head into widespread wings, allowing it to glide or fly through the sky. In all of these forms, Koraidon's tail remains tucked in, revealing a pattern similar to the one on its gular sac.

* Pokémon Scarlet: Koraidon is a major character in the game.
* Pokémon Scarlet: Another Koraidon, also known as the Guardian of Paradise, is the secondary antagonist and a boss in the game. It was brought to the Pokémon world sometime after the first one through Professor Sada's "time machine" and is shown to be far more aggressive and belligerent than it, which eventually caused both to became rivals.
** At some point in Area Zero, both Koraidon got into a territorial battle where the first one was defeated, but saved just in time by Professor Sada, who sacrificed her life to save it, after that, it was forced to escape Area Zero, traumatized by what happened there and leaving the second Koraidon as the strongest Pokémon in Area Zero and making it its territory.
** In The Way Home, the second Koraidon appears to the player, Nemona, Penny, Arven and the first Koraidon, only to attempt to start another battle to kick Koraidon out of its territory once again, however, the Zero Lab is opened and instead of attacking, it walks inside it, leaving the first Koraidon even more scared of it. The player and Koraidon go inside after defeating some Paradox Pokémon and inside, they meet AI Sada, who calls the second Koraidon back inside its Master Ball.
** After the player defeats the controlled AI Sada to deactivate the time machine, the Paradise Protection Protocol is activated, locking all of the heroes' Poké Balls as a last resort to defend the time machine, sending out the Guardian of Paradise, who's defeated once and for all by the player's Koraidon after Terastallizing into a Dragon type.
** Later on in the post-game, the player can find the now Trainer-less Koraidon out of the Zero Lab and catch it, supposedly due to its Master Ball being out of reach.

Koraidon (Japanese: コライドン Koraidon) is a dual-type Fighting/Dragon Legendary Paradox Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
It is said to be an ancient relative of Cyclizar. It also has a future counterpart, Miraidon.
Koraidon has five different transformations it can change between as it traverses varying terrain and adapts to different situations. Its forms include:
- Limited Build when it has little power.
- Sprinting Build when traveling swiftly on land.
- Swimming Build when traveling in the water.
- Gliding Build when traveling in the skies.
- Apex Build during battle and when at full strength.
Koraidon is the game mascot of Pokémon Scarlet, appearing on the game's box art in its Apex Build. It is also known as the "Winged King" (Japanese: ツバサノオウ Tsubasano'ou). Along with Miraidon, it is considered part of the Paradox duo by fans.
Biology
Koraidon is a large reptilian Pokémon. In general, its body is mostly covered in scarlet feathers, with white accents on its cheeks, upper body, thighs, and tail. Koraidon's most prominent feature is the tire-like gular sac on its throat, which inflates and deflates between its different forms. Its head has a crest of feathers and a pair of long, thin, and twisted tendrils; similar feathers are also present on its lower back, around the beginning of its tail.
Koraidon is aware of its own impressive strength and derives confidence from this fact, never feeling threatened by its opponents. Unlike other Paradox Pokémon, however, only two specimen were brought: a quirky, friendly one and a belligerent, territorial one. Despite this, its true origin is unknown: according to AI Sada, Koraidon is an ancient Pokémon related to Cyclizar; however, a Sada brought to the Crystal Pool by Terapagos claims Koraidon to be a counterpart of Cyclizar from another timeline. It was known as the "Winged King" at the time the Scarlet Book was written; its modern-day name, Koraidon, was coined by Professor Sada, possibly as a result of a bootstrap paradox.[1]
The rest of Koraidon's ecology and other details regarding it is unknown.
Koraidon is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Collision Course. It is also the only known Pokémon that can have Orichalcum Pulse as an Ability.
Forms
Koraidon has five forms: Apex Build, Limited Build, Sprinting Build, Swimming Build, and Gliding Build.
Apex Build |
Limited Build |
Sprinting Build |
Swimming Build |
Gliding Build |
- Apex Build
In Apex Build, Koraidon becomes bipedal and assumes a stanced posture. Its head and rear feathers unfold and stand up, with the crest of feathers now resembling a war bonnet. The gular sac on its throat is inflated, revealing a red gear-like pattern; the base of its tail is also more voluminous. Koraidon keeps its claws spread, revealing its white interdigital membranes.
In battle, Koraidon dominates its opponents by using its immense strength and the many natural weapons available to it, such as its tough jaws and fangs, sharp claws, and thick tail. Its legs are strong enough to allow Koraidon to leap over 65 feet into the air, and it can use both its own body weight and the momentum of falling to unleash vicious kicks and body slams as it falls down.[2] It is said to be powerful enough to break the land with just its bare fists. According to Arven, this is Koraidon's true form.[3]
- Limited Build
In Limited Build, Koraidon is quadrupedal. The head and rear plumes are closed and folded. The gular sac on its throat is pulled in, leaving out the rubber tire-like protrusion. The membrane on all four legs is not visible as the central claws are kept in close contact with each other.
Koraidon assumes this form either when weakened or not battling.
- Other forms
Koraidon has the ability to change its form in order to facilitate travel.
In Sprinting Build, Koraidon tucks in its tail and runs on all fours, which allow it to move at very fast speeds and climb cliffs. In Swimming Build, Koraidon's gular sac inflates, allowing it to float in water; it can propel itself by paddling with its webbed feet. In Gliding Build, Koraidon unravels the twisted tendrils on its head into widespread wings, allowing it to glide or fly through the sky.[4][5] In all of these forms, Koraidon's tail remains tucked in, revealing a pattern similar to the one on its gular sac.

- Pokémon Scarlet: Koraidon is a major character in the game.
- Pokémon Scarlet: Another Koraidon, also known as the Guardian of Paradise, is the secondary antagonist and a boss in the game. It was brought to the Pokémon world sometime after the first one through Professor Sada's "time machine" and is shown to be far more aggressive and belligerent than it, which eventually caused both to became rivals.
- At some point in Area Zero, both Koraidon got into a territorial battle where the first one was defeated, but saved just in time by Professor Sada, who sacrificed her life to save it, after that, it was forced to escape Area Zero, traumatized by what happened there and leaving the second Koraidon as the strongest Pokémon in Area Zero and making it its territory.
- In The Way Home, the second Koraidon appears to the player, Nemona, Penny, Arven and the first Koraidon, only to attempt to start another battle to kick Koraidon out of its territory once again, however, the Zero Lab is opened and instead of attacking, it walks inside it, leaving the first Koraidon even more scared of it. The player and Koraidon go inside after defeating some Paradox Pokémon and inside, they meet AI Sada, who calls the second Koraidon back inside its Master Ball.
- After the player defeats the controlled AI Sada to deactivate the time machine, the Paradise Protection Protocol is activated, locking all of the heroes' Poké Balls as a last resort to defend the time machine, sending out the Guardian of Paradise, who's defeated once and for all by the player's Koraidon after Terastallizing into a Dragon type.
- Later on in the post-game, the player can find the now Trainer-less Koraidon out of the Zero Lab and catch it, supposedly due to its Master Ball being out of reach.

Origin
Koraidon may be based on an amalgamation of various lizards, dinosaurs, and vague depictions of European fantasy dragons. It notably resembles the anole and the genera Sitana and Sarada — the latter two are collectively known as fan-throated lizards. It also has traits from other lizard species, namely the frills of the iguana, the feet of the gecko, and the prehensile tail of the chameleon.
Koraidon's feathers may be a reference to feathered dinosaurs, while its bipedal stance in its Apex Build is reminiscent of older depictions of theropod dinosaurs. Furthermore, its signature move of Collision Course alludes to the asteroid that caused the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event, which eliminated most dinosaur species on Earth. Its head shape, its posture in its Apex Build and its alternate name, "Winged King", may be a reference to the Tyrannosaurus, colloquially known as the "King of the Dinosaurs" due to its type species, T. rex, being named with the Latin word for "king". As they're displayed mostly on the head and in the waist area, the colorful feathers might be reference to ancient cultures in general, as opposed to Miraidon's futuristic look. Ancient civilizations (notably Central and South American) and tribes often used bird feathers as ornaments and symbol of status. Koraidon's twisted tendrils also resemble those on the King of Saxony bird-of-paradise.
Some elements of Koraidon's design may be based on parts of off-road motorcycles (such as choppers or dirt bikes built for off-road or natural terrains). This is shown by its brow plumes and shoulders which are similar to handlebars (especially longer ones known as "ape hangers"), and the protrusion on its chest together with its tail resemble rubber tires, the latter especially when curled. Koraidon may have conceptually been influenced by cave paintings, as indicated by the ancient past motifs as well as its red color scheme; the oldest known cave painting is a red hand stencil found in the caves of Maltravieso in Spain, one of the inspirations of the Paldea region.
Name origin
Koraidon may be a combination of 古来 korai or 古代 kodai (ancient), ライド raido (ride), and dragon, don (Spanish for lord), or -don (common suffix in dinosaur names derived from the Ancient Greek word for tooth).
Its alternate name, Winged King, is literally winged king.
Tsubasano'ou, its alternate name in Japanese, can be taken literally as 翼の王 tsubasa no ō (winged king).
Due to a bootstrap paradox involving a version of Professor Sada time traveling from the past, it is possible that the player in Pokémon Scarlet may be responsible for indirectly coining Koraidon's name.
