Biology
Biology
Chatot is an avian Pokémon similar to a parakeet. Its head is black and resembles an eighth note, while its black tail resembles a metronome. Its plumage is brightly colored with blue wings, a yellow chest and feet, a green stomach, and a pink, hooked beak and eyelids. Additionally, there is a ruff of white feathers around its neck.

Physiology
This Pokémon's tongue is similar to a human's, allowing it to imitate human speech. Chatot is also able to mimic the cries of other Pokémon and uses this ability as a defense mechanism. Chatot uses the sounds it has learned and arranges them into its own melody, and flicks its tail to keep a rhythm. Chatot are even capable of understanding the meaning of the words they mimic, the older and more experienced they become. It is diurnal, and lives along bodies of water.
Chatot is a parakeet-like Pokémon that has a black-colored head similar to an eighth note as well as a tail like a metronome, also black in coloration. It is brightly colored with blue wings, a pink beak and eyelids, a yellow "bib" and talons, and a green stomach. It also possess a white collar similar to a Ruff (Clothing).
Gender differences
Behavior
Chatot often copy human speech. It mimics the cries of other Pokémon to trick them into thinking it's one of them; in this way they will not attack it.

Trivia
Trivia
*Chatot's US name was revealed on December 17, 2006.
* Prior to Generation VI, Chatot was the only Pokémon whose cry is not altered when it faints or is sent out with a status condition.
*Prior to the release of Diamond and Pearl, Chatot was believed to be the first naturally pure Flying Pokémon.
* Despite having significantly higher Special Attack and Speed stats, Chatot awards EV points in Attack.
*Although Chatot's tail very closely resembles a metronome, it cannot learn Metronome.
* In Generation IV, a person in Eterna City will trade a Chatot in return for a Buizel, and the Chatot's nickname is Charap, a mixture of its English and Japanese names. If this Pokémon was obtained in an English-language version of Diamond and Pearl, it is erroneously listed as Japanese (which can be seen in any game starting with Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver).
**However, the move Metronome is known as "Wag Finger" in Japan, and its tail clearly isn't a finger.
* Chatot is the only Pokémon that is not Legendary or Mythical to be banned from Generation V's Global Battle Union. This is likely due to Chatot's signature move Chatter and its ability to play pre-recorded audio, which can be abused to play vulgar words and phrases. This vulnerability is also presumably the reason for the move's ability to play pre-recorded audio being removed starting with Generation VI.
*Chatot is the only Pokémon whose cry is not altered when it faints or is sent out with a status condition.

*Chatot is widely considered to be a novelty Pokémon, due to it being comparatively weaker when compared to other Flying-types and whose inclusion in the game simply seems to make use of the Nintendo DS microphone for its Chatter attack.
**Chatot is also the only Pokémon that can learn, or even use, Chatter.
*Despite a significantly higher Special Attack and Speed stat, Chatot awards EV points in Attack.
*All Chatot's known abilities are shared with Pidgey and its Pidgeotto Pidgeot.
*In Platinum, a person in Eterna City will trade a Chatot in return for a Buizel, and the Chatot's nickname is Charap, a mixture of the English and Japanese versions of its name.
*Chatot's color palette was changed slightly in HeartGold and SoulSilver, despite it being a non-Johto Pokémon. This also happened to Torterra, Chimchar, Stunky, Skuntank, Glameow, Purugly, and Registeel.
*Chatot is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 411.
Origin
Origin
Chatot closely resembles a Masked Lovebird, a kind of small parrot. It also resembles a small version of a Blue-and-Yellow Macaw. Its head looks like an eighth note, and its tail resembles a metronome. Additionally, its white neck feathers resemble a collar.
Chatot appears to be based on a parrot, specifically a Yellow-collared lovebird, a species of small parrot. It also resembles a blue-and-yellow macaw, with the head crest of some cockatiel and cockatoo species. Its head looks like an eighth note, and its tail resembles a metronome what may allude to the musical nature of birds, especially parrots that are able to imitate human speech. Additionally, its white neck feathers resemble a collar.

Name origin
Name origin
Chatot's name comes from chat and parrot. Chatot's Japanese name comes from the words parrot and rap. The name could also come from the Japanese word ぺらぺら perapera, which can mean "fluent in languages" but also "blah blah blah", referring to how incessantly some parrots will talk and chatter.
Chatot may be a combination of chat and parrot.

Perap may be a combination of ぺらぺら perapera (fluently; chatty), parrot, and rap.

Chatot (Japanese: ペラップ Perap) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Chatot is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Chatter.

Trivia

Origin

Chatot appears to be based on a parrot, specifically a masked lovebird, a species of small parrot.

Name origin

Chatot may be a combination of chat and parrot.

Perap may be a combination of ぺらぺら perapera (fluently; chatty), parrot, and rap.
