A Gentleman apppeared in Battle Aboard the St. Anne. This Gentleman owned a Raticate that, oddly enough, could use Hi Jump Kick. Ash traded his Butterfree for the Raticate, but grew a little worried about his Butterfree, so he and the Gentleman traded back their Pokémon, just before the St. Anne started sinking due to a storm. A Gentleman who looks similar makes a brief cameo in Time Warp Heals All Wounds.

A Gentleman appeared in Battle Aboard the St. Anne. His main Pokémon is a Raticate, which is able to use Jump Kick. After having a battle with Ash, he became impressed by Ash's Butterfree and suggested he'd trade the category for his Raticate. Ash initially accepted the offer, but during a confrontation against Team Rocket, which both he and the Gentleman participated in, Ash grew worried about his Butterfree. Once Team Rocket's invasion had been stopped, Ash and the Gentleman reversed the trade just as the St. Anne was sinking due to a storm.

A Gentleman appeared in MTR's fantasy in Imitation Confrontation.

A Gentleman appeared in The Kecleon Caper, where his first aid kit was stolen by two Kecleon.

A Gentleman appeared in Time Warp Heals All Wounds.

He is voiced by 中村大樹 Daiki Nakamura in Japanese and by Maddie Blaustien in English.
A Gentleman appeared in Trade, Borrow, and Steal!, where he traded away his Farfetch'd for a Spearow.

A Gentleman (Japanese: ジェントルマン Gentleman) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in the Generation I games. They are older men in dapper suits.

They generally use Pokémon based on pets - such as Growlithe, Manectric or Chatot. They also tend to give out large amounts of money for winning.

In Pokémon Stadium, this Trainer class is known as Old Man. In Generation IV, they gain a female counterpart, the Socialite. In Generation VI, the Monsieur class appears to be a Kalos counterpart.

In Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon and Generation VIII, they keep their Pokémon in Luxury Balls.

In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Gentlemen battled outside of Gyms will award three Poké Balls along with prize money upon being defeated.

A Gentleman in the original series

A Gentleman appeared in Battle Aboard the St. Anne. His main Pokémon is a Raticate, which is able to use Jump Kick. After having a battle with Ash, he became impressed by Ash's Butterfree and suggested he'd trade the Butterfly Pokémon for his Raticate.

A Gentleman appeared in Meowth's fantasy in Imitation Confrontation.

A Gentleman appeared in The Kecleon Caper, where his first aid kit was stolen by two Kecleon.

A Gentleman appeared in Time Warp Heals All Wounds.

A Gentleman appeared in Trade, Borrow, and Steal!, where he traded away his Farfetch'd for a Spearow.
