Extreme Speed (Japanese: しんそく Swiftness), formatted as ExtremeSpeed prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Normal move introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation III, it was the signature move of Arcanine.

Generation II to IV
ExtremeSpeed does damage, and is a max-priority move. If the opponent does not use an max-priority move during the round that it is used, ExtremeSpeed will go first regardless of the user's or opponent's speed. If the opponent also uses ExtremeSpeed during the same turn that the user uses ExtremeSpeed, the attack order of the users will be determined normally. If the user is put to sleep or frozen during the round that ExtremeSpeed is (or attempts to be) used, ExtremeSpeed's increased speed priority will not be reset. Subsequently, it will only be reset on the turn after the user wakes up or is defrosted, or if the user switches out. A Pokémon using ExtremeSpeed will always hit before a Pokémon using an increased priority move, such as Quick Attack.
ExtremeSpeed inflicts damage. It has a priority of +1, so is used before all moves that do not have increased priority.

Lucario uses Extreme Speed as its up special. When activated, Lucario performs a quick dash. Moving in different directions alters which directions Lucario will move.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this move did no damage and moved at a set distance. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in addition to doing damage, as Lucario builds up more aura, the move travels farther and does more damage.

UNITE
In Pokémon UNITE, Extreme Speed is Dragonite's and Lucario's first move.

Dragonite can obtain the move by evolving into Dragonair at level 5 and upgrading Twister into it instead of Dragon Dance. The user dashes toward the designated enemy, damaging and slowing all enemies in a small radius around the target upon impact, throwing the primary target and shoving others away. Using this move resets the cooldown of Multiscale. At level 11, this move also negates any movement speed decrease the user may have before the move is used.

Lucario can obtain the move by reaching level 5 and upgrading Quick Attack into it instead of Power-Up Punch. The user dashes forward, damaging all enemies hit and healing the user for each enemy hit. The first enemy hit will reset the cooldown of Extreme Speed. This effect cannot occur on the same target more than once every 10 seconds. Attacking immediately after the dash will perform a unique attack in an area dealing 75% Atk and can critically hit. At level 11, the move increases the user's Attack by 15% for a short period of time after use.

* Extreme Speed's in-game descriptions erroneously state that it goes before any other move. This trait is shared with Baby-Doll Eyes, Bullet Punch, Ice Shard, Mach Punch, Quick Attack, Shadow Sneak, Vacuum Wave, and Water Shuriken.
* Although it is a Normal move, only Arceus Normal-type Pokémon can learn this move by leveling up, not counting Togekiss which was Normal prior to Generation VI.

Extreme Speed (Japanese: しんそく Swiftness), formatted as ExtremeSpeed prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation III, it was the signature move of Arcanine.

Effect

Generation II to IV

ExtremeSpeed inflicts damage. It has a priority of +1, so is used before all moves that do not have increased priority.

Generation V onwards

Extreme Speed now has +2 priority.

Description

Games Description
Stad2 An attack that always strikes first. It can be learned by only a few Pokémon.
GSC A powerful first-strike move.
RSEColoXD An extremely fast and powerful attack.
FRLG A blindingly speedy charge attack that always goes before any other.

With some exceptions, Pokémon learnsets match those from the core series games:

Super Smash Bros. series

Pokémon UNITE
