Shroomish (Japanese: キノココ Kinococo) is a Grass Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves into Breloom starting at level 23.
It evolves into Breloom starting at level 23.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Shroomish is a small fungus Pokémon similar to a mushroom. It has beady black eyes and a half-triangle-shaped mouth. Its upper body is beige with frilled segments along the bottom and a small opening at the top. There are green spots marking its upper body, while its lower body is completely green. It has small, round feet and no visible arms or hands. When it senses danger, it shakes its body and scatters toxic spores from the top of its head. These spores can make trees and weeds wilt and cause whole-body pain if inhaled. Shroomish lives in List of Pokémon by habitat. During the day, it hides under fallen leaves in the shade. It eats composted soil in forests, which is made up of fallen, rotten leaves.
Shroomish are small green and peach colored Pokémon with a clear inspiration from mushrooms. They are peach on the upper half, where they are spotted with green and have a small opening at the top. This section ends with frilled segments, which overlap its green underside, which is round and has small, round feet. Shroomish seem to have a near permanent frown on their face.

Gender differences
Prior to Generation V, Shroomish and its evolved form, Breloom, were the only known Pokémon that could have Poison Heal as an Ability.
None.

Special abilities
Evolution
Shroomish has a buildup of poisonous powders inside, which it can Effect Spore when threatened. Some Shroomish also Poison Heal when poisoned.
Shroomish evolves into Breloom.

Behavior
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
Shroomish are said to be mild tempered, and are often found keeping still under fallen leaves. If a Shroomish senses danger, it shakes its body and scatters toxic spores from the top of its head.

Trivia
Trivia
* Shroomish can learn Wake-Up Slap despite not possessing hands.
* Shroomish and its evolved form share the same category with Paras, Parasect, Foongus, and Amoonguss. They are all known as the Mushroom Pokémon.
* Shroomish is able to learn False Swipe via the Shadow Shroomish being purified in , yet it does not possess claws or any other objects to slice with. It learns the move immediately after purification.
** All six Pokémon also share a common move, Spore; and Ability, Effect Spore.
* Shroomish and its evolved form, Breloom, share their species name with Paras, Parasect, Foongus, Amoonguss. They are all known as Mushroom Pokémon.
** In Pokémon GO, they all give more Stardust than most other Pokémon upon capture.
** These are also the only Pokémon that can have the Ability Effect Spore without having come from the Dream World.
* In Generation IV, Shroomish can learn False Swipe via breeding, but not via TM.
* Shroomish can be seen as a parallel to Paras. Both of them are Grass Pokémon. Shroomish is exclusive to Pokémon Black, while Paras is exclusive to Pokémon White, with both Pokémon found in a Mass Outbreak in 11 in their respective versions. Additionally, both are based on fungi.
*Shroomish is the only fungi-based Pokémon that is not dual-typed.
**However, Breloom, its evolution, is dual-typed, being Grass and Fighting.

Shroomish is based on a mushroom.
Shroomish appears to be based on a mushroom, particularly a puffball or an Geastrales. It may also be based on a dinosaur egg due to its round shape, its color scheme matching that of a Pokémon Egg, and its evolved form Breloom's resemblance to certain dinosaurs.

Name origin
Name origin
Shroomish's name is derived from mushroom and the suffix -ish, meaning -like, or the word skirmish, since Breloom is a Fighting Pokémon.
Shroomish may be derived from mushroom and the suffix -ish (almost like) or skirmish (brief battle).

Kinococo is a combination of kinoko, mushrooms, and 子 ko, child.
Kinococo may be a combination of キノコ kinoko (mushroom) and 子 ko (child).

Shroomish (Japanese: キノココ Kinococo) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves into Breloom starting at level 23.

Biology

Shroomish is a small fungus Pokémon similar to a mushroom. It has beady black eyes and a half-triangle-shaped mouth. Its upper body is beige with frilled segments along the bottom and a small opening at the top. There are green spots marking its upper body, while its lower body is completely green. It has small, round feet and no visible arms or hands. When it senses danger, it shakes its body and scatters toxic spores from the top of its head. These spores can make trees and weeds wilt and cause whole-body pain if inhaled. Shroomish lives in tropical forests. During the day, it hides under fallen leaves in the shade. It eats composted soil in forests, which is made up of fallen, rotten leaves.

Prior to Generation V, Shroomish and its evolved form, Breloom, were the only known Pokémon that could have Poison Heal as an Ability.

Evolution

Shroomish evolves into Breloom.

Trivia

Origin

Shroomish appears to be based on a mushroom, particularly a puffball or an earth star. It may also be based on a dinosaur egg due to its round shape, its color scheme matching that of a Pokémon Egg, and its evolved form Breloom's resemblance to certain dinosaurs.

Name origin

Shroomish may be derived from mushroom and the suffix -ish (almost like) or skirmish (brief battle).

Kinococo may be a combination of キノコ kinoko (mushroom) and 子 ko (child).
