Registeel is a large Legendary Steel-type Pokémon. Most of Registeel's body is spherical and gray while the middle of its face has the appearance of being exposed as it shows black "skin" and is surrounded by raised metal. Registeel's lower half is disc-like in shape and has two cylindrical legs without toes. Its face consists of seven red dots in a hexagonal formation and it has black arms with three fingers each that are connected to its upper half by gray hemispheres. The backs of its hands have three red triangles pointing away from the fingers.
Registeel is a large robotic Pokémon. Most of Registeel's body is spherical and gray while the middle of its face has the appearance of being exposed as it shows black "skin" and is surrounded by raised metal. Registeel's lower half is disc-like in shape and has two cylindrical legs without toes. Its face consists of seven red dots in a hexagonal formation, and it has black arms with three fingers each that are connected to its upper half by gray hemispherical shoulders. The backs of its hands have three red triangles pointing away from the fingers.

While Registeel has been classified as a Steel Pokémon, its body is hollow and made of a material that is harder than any known metal. However, this material stretches and shrinks despite its hardness. Because of this, it is unknown what Registeel can eat. Registeel's body was tempered by pressure List of Pokémon by habitat over thousands of years, as a result, it cannot be scratched. It was sealed away in ruins by people during ancient times.
While Registeel has been classified as a Steel Pokémon, its body is hollow and made of a material that is harder than any known metal. However, this material stretches and shrinks despite its hardness. While one Pokédex entry noted that the material that forms Registeel's body is extraterrestrial, it is also theorized that Registeel was actually born inside the Pokémon world's mantle, before emerging onto the surface 10,000 years ago. Further evidence supporting this theory is the fact that Registeel's body was tempered by pressure List of Pokémon by habitat over thousands of years; as a result, it cannot be scratched. Another theory posits that Registeel was created by Regigigas out of magma. It is unknown what Registeel can eat. It was sealed away in ruins by people during ancient times.

Major appearances
Legendary titans (M08)
In Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Regice was a guardian of the Tree of Beginning. Registeel first attacked TRT, but when they tried to flee, it attacked Ash and ashfr too. After everyone was saved by Mew, Registeel and the other guardians realized they were not a danger and left to continue their duties.

Brandon's Legendary titans
Registeel made its main series debut in Overjoyed!, in which Brandon used his Registeel against Ash and Torkoal for a battle that it would win. In Pace - The Final Frontier! it and Brandon's Legendary titans blasted off TRT. Brandon brought Registeel to Sinnoh with him in A Pyramiding Rage! and Pillars of Friendship!.

Minor appearances
Registeel debuted in the opening sequence of Destiny Deoxys.

In the opening sequence of The Rise of Darkrai, a Registeel, Regirock, and Regice fired Hyper Beams that combined into one.

In PK18, a Registeel sent MTR and his cronies blasting off after they mistook him for a floating Pokémon.

A Registeel appeared in a flashback in Pillars of Friendship!.

Pokédex entries
GOTCHA!
A Registeel briefly appeared as a silhouette in GOTCHA!.

Pokémon Adventures
Brandon's Legendary titans
Registeel debuted in The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, when Drake attempted to open the Ancient Tomb. Together, Steven and Sapphire created a team consisting of four Beldum and Sapphire's Sapphire (Adventures) and Sapphire (Adventures), thus opening up the chamber containing Registeel, as well as the other two titans, Regirock and Regice. Registeel used Superpower to stop Groudon and Kyogre from spreading destruction. After the battle, it and the other two titans—left weak and powerless—traveled to the mountains, where they were later caught by Brandon shortly before the opening ceremony of the Battle Frontier.

Brandon used Registeel first in his battle with Emerald, where it squared off against the Crystal (Adventures) the boy borrowed from Crystal. Though Registeel took considerable damage from the accumulation of many Fire Punches and was eventually beaten by a strong Sky Uppercut attack, it managed to cause its opponent to faint as well with a clever Toxic maneuver. It has not been seen since.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!
Registeel, along with the other two Legendary titans, are seen under the possession of Candice. She uses them against Hareta to test his worthiness to challenge Regigigas in A Novel Test!!.

In the TCG
Registeel (TCG)

Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Registeel appears as an occasional stage hazard in the Pokémon League (Kalos) of the Kalos Pokémon League stage. Appearing rarely, it will use Stomp to dislodge the swords embedded in the stage, causing them to fly upwards and damage fighters. Grounded characters will also take damage from Stomp.

Trophy information
This Steel-type Pokémon's hollow body is made out of an ultrahard metal, forged under pressure over thousands of years underground. It can appear in the Kalos Pokémon League stage, in the Elite Four's Steel-type chamber. Its Stomp attack will launch fighters on the ground, and even the giant swords mounted on the stage!

Main series
Major appearances
Legendary giants (M08)
In Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Registeel was a guardian of the Tree of Beginning. Registeel first attacked TRT, but when they tried to flee, it attacked Ash and ashfr too. After everyone was saved by Mew, Registeel and the other guardians realized they were not a danger and left to continue their duties.
Brandon's legendary giants
Registeel made its main series debut in Overjoyed!, in which Brandon used his Registeel against Ash and Torkoal at the Battle Pyramid, eventually winning after a tough battle. In Pace - The Final Frontier!, it and Brandon's legendary giants blasted off Team Rocket. Brandon brought Registeel to Sinnoh with him in A Pyramiding Rage! and Pillars of Friendship!.
Other
In Chasing to the Finish!, Quillon confronted a Registeel at the Galar region's Iron Ruins and caught it for Project Mew.
Emerald

Sinnoh

GOTCHA!
A Registeel briefly appeared as a silhouette in GOTCHA!.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Brandon's legendary giants#Pokémon Adventures
Registeel debuted in The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, when Drake attempted to open the Ancient Tomb. Together, Steven and Sapphire created a team consisting of four Beldum and Sapphire's Sapphire (Adventures) and Sapphire (Adventures), thus opening up the chamber containing Registeel, as well as the other two giants, Regirock and Regice. Registeel used Superpower to stop Groudon and Kyogre from spreading destruction. After the battle, it and the other two giants—left weak and powerless—traveled to the mountains, where they were later caught by Brandon shortly before the opening ceremony of the Battle Frontier.
Brandon used Registeel first in his battle with Emerald, where it squared off against the Hitmonchan the boy borrowed from Crystal. Registeel (Japanese: レジスチル Registeel) is a Steel-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

It is a member of the legendary giants along with Regirock, Regice, Regieleki, and Regidrago.

Biology

Registeel is a large robotic Pokémon. Most of Registeel's body is spherical and gray while the middle of its face has the appearance of being exposed as it shows black "skin" and is surrounded by raised metal. Registeel's lower half is disc-like in shape and has two cylindrical legs without toes. Its face consists of seven red dots in a hexagonal formation, and it has black arms with three fingers each that are connected to its upper half by gray hemispherical shoulders. The backs of its hands have three red triangles pointing away from the fingers.

While Registeel has been classified as a Steel-type Pokémon, its body is hollow and made of a material that is harder than any known metal. However, this material stretches and shrinks despite its hardness. While one Pokédex entry noted that the material that forms Registeel's body is extraterrestrial, it is also theorized that Registeel was actually born inside the Pokémon world's mantle, before emerging onto the surface 10,000 years ago. Further evidence supporting this theory is the fact that Registeel's body was tempered by pressure underground over thousands of years; as a result, it cannot be scratched. Another theory posits that Registeel was created by Regigigas out of magma. It is unknown what Registeel can eat. It was sealed away in ruins by people during ancient times.

Pokémon Adventures

Main article: Brandon's Registeel

Registeel debuted in The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, when Drake attempted to open the Ancient Tomb. Together, Steven and Sapphire created a team consisting of four Beldum and Sapphire's Relicanth and Wailord, thus opening up the chamber containing Registeel, as well as the other two giants, Regirock and Regice.

Though Registeel took considerable damage from the accumulation of many Fire Punches and was eventually beaten by a strong Sky Uppercut attack, it managed to cause its opponent to faint as well with a clever Toxic maneuver.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!

Registeel, along with the other two legendary giants, are seen under the possession of Candice. She uses them against Hareta to test his worthiness to challenge Regigigas in A Novel Test!!.

In the TCG

Other appearances

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Registeel appears as an occasional stage hazard in the Ironworks Chamber of the Kalos Pokémon League stage.

Trivia

  • In the non-English European versions of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Registeel's sprite was edited because of its arm. The arm's original position is reminiscent of the Nazi salute. In Pokémon Platinum, the sprite was changed for all regions to the continental European variation (which would be retained in HeartGold and SoulSilver).
    • This also makes Registeel the only Pokémon whose Pokéwalker sprite is not its Diamond and Pearl one (not counting alternate forms of Pokémon that were introduced in Platinum).
  • In the international versions of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, there is an unobtainable Registeel Doll programmed into the game. It was unlockable with the Japan-exclusive Regi-Dolls Decoration set e-Reader card.
  • Registeel is tied with Probopass for the highest base Special Defense stat of all Steel-type Pokémon.
  • Registeel shares both its standard and hidden Abilities with the Beldum evolutionary line.
  • Registeel is the only legendary giant:

Origin

Registeel may be based on the golems of Hebrew legend. The legends cast them as servants of higher powers and are said to have writing on their heads. When the writing is removed, the creature would be weakened, or even killed in some legends. Given its metallic construction, it may also be based on a humanoid robot. Registeel's face that consists of seven dots may be based on Braille alphabet which was necessary to use to encounter the legendary giants for the first time in Sealed Chamber.

The five legendary giants may be collectively themed after historical epochs, with Registeel representing the Iron Age.

Name origin

Registeel may be a combination of regis (Latin for royal) and steel.
