One, Two, Three (Japanese: 1・2・3) is the first Japanese opening theme of Pokémon Journeys: The Series. It debuted in JN001, replacing Your Adventure of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon.

Various artists have performed different arrangements of the song:

The theme song was also produced by 佐野弘明 Hiroaki Sano and 毛谷村伸也 Shinya Keyamura.

Opening animation: Version 1 (JN001JN031)

Synopsis

The series logo appears as the camera pans across a large grassy hill and settles on Ash, Goh, Pikachu, and Scorbunny, who are looking up at the sky. Ash and Pikachu are shown first, with Pikachu climbing around on his shoulders, jumping onto his shirt, and using it as a trampoline. Goh is then seen packing his bag with Scorbunny jumping at his side. Chloe is shown next poking her Yamper, which then turns its head and causes Chloe to smile. A cut to Professor Cerise follows, who holds out three Poké Balls. Ash, Go, Pikachu, and Scorbunny are shown in front of maps featuring the starters of each of the regions from Kanto to Galar are shown.

Goh's hands are shown reaching towards a floating yellow orb, which is revealed to be Mew. Goh and Ash are then seen. Their eyes meet before each of them throw a Poké Ball in the air to send out a Pokémon. Ash, Pikachu, Chloe, Go, and Scorbunny are seen dancing in the Cerise Laboratory, while Yamper lays on the ground in front of Chloe. They then all clap and face the screen. Scorbunny, Pikachu, Ash, and Goh are then seen jumping off a brick terrace away from the lab and run down the street. They trip in front of Chloe, who turns and walks away. Ash and Go, along with Pikachu and Scorbunny, are then seen gazing up at a rock from which Meowth, Jessie, James, and Wobbuffet look down and sneer.

Pikachu jumps over a Tyranitar and uses Thunderbolt on it. Scorbunny then runs up to a Corviknight and uses Double Kick on it. Ash, Pikachu, Ren, Chrysa, Chloe, Professor Cerise, Go, and Scorbunny all dance and clap their hands. A close-up of Pikachu and Scorbunny is shown, who smile and cry in quick succession. They are shown to be on top of Yamper, who is on top of Mimey. Pikachu and Scorbunny fall off of Yamper and Mimey catches them in each of his outstretched hands before all three jump off.

Ash, Go, and Chloe, along with their partner Pokémon, are then seen walking on a rotating Poké Ball past several various Pokémon and landmarks from various regions. The following scene depends on the episode. Pikachu and Ash then jump into view, followed by Go, Scorbunny, Pikachu, and Ash having tripped, with Goh skinning his knee. Goh and Scorbunny then jump into view, followed by all four seen standing up, looking at each other, and striking a pose.

Variants

The clip displayed during the line 「先も見えない 果ても知らない世界がそこにあるけど」 varies depending on the episode. This is typically a scene from the episode itself, with the exception of JN001, which used the same scene as JN002, and the episodes set in Galar (JN004-JN005, JN012-JN013, JN027-JN028), where Zacian and Zamazenta pose together. The opening animation used for the song in the Thai and Mandarin Chinese (Taiwan) dub uses only the Zacian/Zamazenta scene.

Lyrics

The lyrics for all versions of the song are identical with the exception of the following:

  • The second version performed by Nishikawa-kun and Kirishō does not include the (ナイ!) or (トライ!) parentheticals.
  • In the third version performed by the Karaage Sisters, the lines 「どこへ行こうか?」は / 「どこへだって行ける」でしょ? are pronounced as "Doko e ikō ka?" wa / "Doko e datte ikeru?" desho?.

Are you ready to head out?
We don't need a sendoff
To the strange world I want to show you

Even if in fire or in water
Or in the present day we fumble for but can't see
We still don't know what awaits even one second ahead

But every single one of our memories
Is always inside a ball

Jump in on one, two, three!

"Nice to meet you" always marks a beginning

Let's go! When it comes to who I want by my side to start walking again
I choose you!

Let's go!
When it comes to who I want by my side to start walking again
I choose you!

The view from the neighboring town, the breathtaking world
Dizzyingly spin and change
Leaving me behind

Even the holes that I used to slip through and play around as a child
It's been a while since I last saw one, so have I just missed them all along?

But you know, even that forgotten view is
Still out there somewhere today

Jump out on one, two, three!
With those days spent crying, towards the outside of the ball

"Where do I want to go?" is
"Anywhere you go," right?
There's no time to breathe! (No!) Try! (Try!)
Why don't we go?

1. Beyond words
2. Beyond boundaries
To you who I've yet to meet

Even if I fall with my hands on the ground, I've already made my decision
As shadows stretch when the sun sets, I will grow as well

Let's go!
It's gotta be after the rain
Let's go!
Because there aren't rainbows on sunny days
Since that day when I realized it

You, you, before I knew it
Haven't you became an adult?

You've left it in the right pocket of those dusty, tattered clothes
An adventure that could be held in one hand was all of us
The memories of those days are searching for you

Jump in on one, two, three!
Because the future I once imagined is right in my pocket
Let's go somewhere, take me anywhere
There's no hesitating! (No!) Try! (Try!)

Trivia

  • The beginning of the song plays a sound that is similar to the Game Boy startup sound, possibly a reference to the earliest Pokémon games being on this console.
  • The After The Rain version of the song is available as DLC for the Rythm Game "Taiko no Tatsujin Drum 'n' Fun"
  • Takanori Nishikawa posted an early version of the second version of the opening animation on his Twitter account, which has since been deleted. In it:
    • The angle of the floor in the shot after the logo differs.
    • Pikachu's tail is missing and Ash's backpack and Chloe's hair are redrawn in the distant shot of Ash, Goh, and Chloe.
    • Ash and Goh run further past the Cerise Laboratory.
    • The images of the Legendary birds are rearranged.
    • Glow, blur, fire, and sunray effects for the images of the Legendary Pokémon are not present.
    • The snacks and papers are differently colored.
    • The Poké Balls in Goh's eye are not translucent.
    • Goh's eye is not shaded.
    • A yellow tint and sparkle effects are absent from the scene where Goh is surrounded by Poké Balls.
    • The electricity effects from Goh's Poké Ball, Zapdos's Electric attack, and Pikachu's Thunderbolt are purple.
    • The Legendary birds do not glow.
    • The spotlights are yellow and the background is not darkened during Ash and Goh's battle.
    • Gengar's Shadow Ball attack is not present.
    • Sobble fades out without a glow effect.
    • The fire effect on Raboot's kick is not present.
    • The sparkle effects in the background of Ash and Goh's parties are not present.
    • Eternatus does not glow and the clouds do not glow purple.
    • Raihan's Rotom Phone is the standard color.
    • The fire effect for Leon's Charizard and the darkening of the stadium is not present.
    • The glow of Duraludon's Steel Beam is not present.
    • The icons and layout of the pictures from the Rotom Phone differ.
    • A sparkle effect is added to Celebi.
    • Fewer stars are visible in the forest at night.
    • Darker shading on the shot of Vermilion City in the morning, lighter shading on the daytime, evening and nighttime shots of Vermilion.
    • More stars are visible in Vermilion City at night.
    • The sunray and water effects are missing from the ruins scene.
    • Darker shading on the final shots of Ash, Goh, Pikachu, Raboot and both Trainers and their Pokémon.
  • One, Two, Three is the first opening to have three versions in one series, as well as the first opening with multiple versions in one series to have different singers in different versions.
  • The third version of the opening animation marks Gary's first appearance in an opening animation since High Touch!.
  • Ash's Dracovish is his sole Pokémon on hand not to physically appear on the third version of the opening animation. This is potentially because the writers wanted to avoid spoilers.

Errors

  • During the battle scene of the first version, Scorbunny's tail disappears for two frames.
  • In the song credits for the second version, Hidekazu Tanaka is omitted. This is fixed beginning in JN034.
