A Pomeg Berry (Japanese: ザロクのみ Zaroku Fruit) is a type of Berry introduced in Generation III.
In the core series games
Price
In the Generation V games, the Pomeg Berry can be sold to the gourmet maniac on Route 5 for $20.
Effect
In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, the Pomeg Berry cannot be used directly and only has a use as an ingredient for Pokéblocks.
From Pokémon Emerald, the Pomeg Berry can be used from the Bag on a Pokémon to increase the Pokémon's friendship (+10 at friendship 0-99, +5 at friendship 100-199, +1SwSh-/+2E-USUM at friendship 200-254) and lowers its HP EVs by ten points (but not below 0). In Generation IV only, this Berry reduces the EV to 100 if it was above 110 when used.

Pomeg flowers in the anime
While the Pomeg Berry itself has never been featured in the anime, its flowers appeared in The Grass-Type is Always Greener!. Ash, his friends, and Cheryl found a Combee residing near them, thus giving them their first lead to the Amber Castle.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
In A Conk on Cranidos's Cranium, a Pomeg Berry was a part of Diamond and Pearl's manzai routine. In the Chuang Yi translation, it was referred to as a Rowap Berry instead.
In Problematic Probopass and Mad Magnezone II, a Pomeg Berry was seen among the many Berries that Cyrus's Probopass's Mini-Noses dug out of Lax's fur while trying to retrieve Cyrus's camera.
Trivia
- Due to its ability to lower a Pokémon's HP EVs, it is famous for the Pomeg glitch, which can lower the HP of a Pokémon which has low HP so that it underflows. The glitch occurs in Pokémon Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
Origin
The Pomeg Berry's design and name may be based on a pomegranate.
