Giant Chasm (Japanese: ジャイアントホール Giant Hole) is an area in the northeastern part of the Unova region.

It is a large impact crater, containing a maze-like forest, and is home to a number of extraterrestrial Pokémon, including the legendary Pokémon Kyurem, which can be accessed when the player reaches the small pond in the middle.

This area has many high-level Pokémon from previous generations. It is said that disaster will befall to any person who approaches it, which may explain why Absol can be caught here.

Role

When the player reaches the pond, the forest will freeze; thus giving the player access to the cave Kyurem is in. Once the player has captured or defeated Kyurem, the cave's deepest part is no longer accessible after leaving the area; if Kyurem is defeated, the cave's deepest part will become accessible again after defeating the Pokémon League again.

In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Kyurem only appears after the player has caught Zekrom^{Wrong template. See Template:Sup/doc.}/Reshiram^{Wrong template. See Template:Sup/doc.} at Dragonspiral Tower.

In Black 2 and White 2, the player encounters Team Plasma here once again, and the Plasma Frigate is docked in the crater's forest. Rood of the Seven Sages along with some old Team Plasma members confront the new Team Plasma; this gives the player the opportunity to sneak aboard the Plasma Frigate, where they fight Colress and run into Ghetsis. The player follows Ghetsis out of the ship after defeating the Shadow Triad. At the end of the cave, Ghetsis appears and tries to eliminate the player with Kyurem's Glaciate, but are saved by N and his Zekrom^{Wrong template. See Template:Sup/doc.}/Reshiram^{Wrong template. See Template:Sup/doc.}. Ghetsis uses the Ghetsis Stick to control Kyurem, who then proceeds to fuse with N's dragon, forcing the player to fight Black^{Wrong template. See Template:Sup/doc.}/White^{Wrong template. See Template:Sup/doc.} Kyurem. After that, the player fights Ghetsis himself.

After defeating Ghetsis, the Shadow Triad appear and help him escape from custody yet again. Outside, the Plasma Frigate has left. Rood and his team wait to tell the player that Colress has disbanded the new Team Plasma and taken the Plasma Frigate.
