Mom (Japanese: おかあさん mother) is the mother of the player in Pokémon Sun and Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
In the core series games
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version
In the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version, she moves to Alola with her son, Sun. She suggests to go to Hau'oli City's City Hall to register their new address. She stays in the City Hall relaxing, at this time, Hau comes into the room and asks Sun if he wants to look around the city. The player's mother stays in the City Hall for the rest of the game.
In Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
In both Pokémon Sun and Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the player moves to Hau'oli City from the Kanto region with their mother and their pet Meowth. She is welcomed to the island by Professor Kukui when he first visits. When the player returns home with their chosen first partner Pokémon, she welcomes the new Pokémon into their home. The family's pet Meowth is extremely fond of her, generally never leaving her side and even sleeping on her bed with her.
She attends the festival to give praise to Tapu Koko with the player and watches their ceremonial battle with Hau.
She later takes part in the celebration of the player becoming the first Champion in Alola, and battles the Masked Royal and his Rockruff with her Meowth.
In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, she is revealed to have a husband who remained behind in Kanto and the two keep in contact by sending each other letters. After the player becomes the Champion, an event instigated by talking to Meowth reveals that the player's mother had been an infamous Meowth Trainer known as the "Scratch Cat Girl" (Japanese: ばけねこむすめ Bakeneko Girl) during her younger days in Kanto, and even in the present day is ruthless in battle.
Pokémon
In both Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. The player's mom owns a Kantonian Meowth to which they have moved to Alola from Kanto with. Meowth is treated as the family's pet and has its own food containers and bed (but sleeps with the player's mom anyways). After the player has access to their bag, they can sleep in the bed in their room and activate a scene involving the mom's Meowth, who wakes them up and provides them with an Awakening.
In concept art only, the mom is also shown with a Pikipek, giving her her keys. Pikipek is not found anywhere in the final game and Meowth is absent from the concept art.
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
Mom's Meowth participates in battle in a post-game event exclusive to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. While this battle involves the player, the battle does not use the game's actual battle system, instead being done entirely within the standard dialogue text and commands. Therefore, Meowth's stats, Ability, and level are unknown, however move prompts are provided. The battle is entirely scripted and the player will always win. Mom's Meowth has an affection level of 5.
The player has access to all standard battle options: FIGHT, POKÉMON, BAG and RUN, each providing different dialogue if chosen. The player must pick the FIGHT command to complete the event.
