Technician (Ability): Difference between revisions
(Swift is TM40 in SwSh.) |
(→In battle: Turns out, Technician does not take into account base power modifiers, but it DOES take variable base power into account, like this section says. It's actually kinda more complicated than that though; from Gen 5 onward, if multiple Ability or item modifiers apply, they get chained in order of out-of-battle Speed. Regardless, I'll update the power page accordingly.) |

Technician (Japanese: テクニシャン Technician) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV.
Effect
In battle
Generation IV
Technician increases the power of moves which have a power of 60 or less by 50%.
For moves with variable power, Technician will only apply if the power is 60 or less when used. For example, Low Kick and Grass Knot will only get a Technician boost if the target's weight is 110.0 lbs. (49.9 kg) or less.
The effect does not apply to confusion damage, which remains at a power of 40. However, if a Pokémon hurts itself in confusion induced due to disobedience, the power is increased to 60.
Generation V
Technician no longer applies for any means of confusion damage, including the one induced by disobedience.
