==Biology==
==Biology==
===Physiology===
Beautifly is a {{wp|butterfly}}-like {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} easily recognizable by its two pairs of colorful wings. It has large blue eyes and black antennae with rounded tips. Its face, underside, and four stubby limbs are gray, while the rest of its body is black. The main body of its wings are black with large, yellow markings, and smaller red and blue markings. The upper pair of wings are larger and have a line of yellow along the top edge, while each of the lower wings has a long, round-tipped extension on the bottom. The female's wings have smaller red spots than the male's.
Beautifly is a mostly black-colored butterfly-like Pokémon. Beautifly has a long, curled black proboscis, large blue eyes and black antennae extending out of its head. Beautifly’s face, underside, and four stubby limbs are gray in coloration. Beautifly’s wings are large and colorful, the largest markings being yellow, with accentuations of red and blue. The rim of the wing also has a line of yellow on the edge, and the lower pair of wings has a long, round-tipped extension.

====Gender differences====
Beautifly has a long and curled black proboscis that it uses to gather pollen and nectar — its favorite food — from flowers. Its diet also includes water, fruit juices, and bodily fluids from its prey, all of which it sucks up with its proboscis. Despite its appearance, Beautifly is known to be aggressive and greedy; it will jab at foes with its proboscis if it is disturbed while collecting pollen. The preferred habitats of a Beautifly are {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Forest Pokémon|forests}}, where it rides the spring winds while searching for pollen. It competes with {{p|Combee}} for nectar.
The red spots on the top of a female's wings are smaller than those on a male's wings.

====Special abilities====
===Evolution===
Beautifly are capable of sapping energy with {{m|Absorb}}, {{m|Mega Drain}}, and {{m|Giga Drain}}, restoring health with {{m|Morning Sun}}, and stunning their opponents with {{m|Stun Spore}}. It can also jab its long, thin mouth at foes when attacking, or when perturbed collecting pollen.
Beautifly evolves from {{p|Silcoon}} and is the final form of {{p|Wurmple}}.

===Behavior===
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to [[#Evolution data|Game data→Evolution data]].)
Although they have a gentle appearance, Beautifly have been known to be very aggressive. It savagely attacks other Pokémon by sucking their body fluids. In forested areas such as Pokémon preserves, they can be seen flying overhead in groups.

Beautifly (Japanese: アゲハント Agehunt) is a dual-type Bug/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Silcoon starting at level 10. It is one of Wurmple's final forms, the other being Dustox.

Biology

Beautifly is a butterfly-like Pokémon easily recognizable by its two pairs of colorful wings.

The preferred habitats of a Beautifly are forests, where it rides the spring winds while searching for pollen. It competes with Combee for nectar.

Evolution

Beautifly evolves from Silcoon and is the final form of Wurmple.

Trivia

Origin

Beautifly seems to be based on a swallowtail butterfly, particularly the common yellow swallowtail due to the shape and colors of its wings. Its ability to pierce prey with its proboscis is similar to a vampire moth or a mosquito.

Name origin

Beautifly may be a combination of beauty and butterfly. It could also be a play on beautify (to improve the appearance of) or beautifully.

Agehunt may be a combination of 揚羽蝶 agehachō (swallowtail butterfly) and hunt (referring to its aggressive nature).
