Pokémon world locations |
Scorched Slab (Japanese: 日照りの岩戸 Drought Cave) is a small cave found in Hoenn. It can be accessed by surfing in an indented lake on Route 120 near Fortree City. In Generation III, there is nothing here other than a single item, TM11 (Sunny Day). In Generation VI, Scorched Slab has four floors and several other items, as well as being home to Heatran.
Geography
Generation III
Scorched Slab is a tiny cave in the middle of an indented lake in Route 120. There is a small opening in the rock which lets the lake's water in the cave. About two-thirds of the cave is filled with water; the other third is a dry slab of rock, giving the cave its name. The entrance is accessed by surfing across the lake and through the small opening. Surfing northward to a lone, small piece of land, the main attraction—TM11 (Sunny Day)—can be obtained here.
Generation VI
In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Scorched Slab gains three basement floors, and becomes a full-fledged optional area for the player to explore, with items to find and wild Pokémon to battle. The lower floors are dark (but not the lowest floor), but can be illuminated with Flash. There is a boulder that can be moved with Strength, although moving it only creates a minor shortcut.

Trivia
Origin
Scorched Slab is modeled after one of the real-life locations that is claimed to be Ama-no-Iwato, the cave where the sun goddess Amaterasu shut herself in for a long time in Japanese mythology. This explains why the one thing that can be found in Scorched Slab in Generation III is TM11 (Sunny Day).
