Route 9 starts out as a cold, snowy route. The same river that runs through 8 also appears here. Unlike on Route 8, however, here it is possible to traverse the river and access a secluded area where 64 and a wanderer Glalie can be found.
Circhester Bay is a large body of water largely covered in floating chunks of ice, creating a natural maze that must be traversed in order to reach the other side. Several pieces of land are also present here, where Trainers and a Pokémon Camp can be found. In the west, there's a secluded beach with a pair of Swimmers, and in the south, the bay is bordered by another sandy beach. Due to the area's watery nature, either an upgraded Rotom Bike or a Poké Job Pokémon is required to cross it.
Unlike the rest of the route, Outer Spikemuth is not covered in snow or ice, instead having lush fields of tall grass. Two entrances to Spikemuth are also found here, with the main gate being initially closed until the player has earned the Dark. In the west, Outer Spikemuth provides access to the Route 9 Tunnel, which connects Route 9 to 7.

===Pokémon Adventures===
In Pokémon Adventures, there's a highway running across Circhester Bay, allowing it to be crossed by driving.
====Sword & Shield====
Route 9 first appeared in Swaying!! Murky Memories, where Henry and Casey traveled through it on their way to Spikemuth. Using his newly upgraded Rotom Bike, Henry chose to cross Circhester Bay by traveling across the water so he could battle the wild Pokémon there for training, while Casey, Marvin, and Professor Magnolia used the highway to get to the other side. After training for a while with his recently obtained Mr. Rime, Henry made it to the other side and was reunited with the others at Outer Spikemuth.
While Henry was traversing through the route, Casey suddenly regained her memories of how exactly she had lost her Pokémon a year earlier. When Henry reunited with the others, Casey told him that her Pokémon had been stolen by two people who referred to themselves as celebrities. In Grrr!! Noble Kidnappers, their van was attacked by a Golisopod and a Bronzong sent by these very people, demanding them to hand over the information that Sonia had sent to the group regarding them.
Meanwhile, Raihan met up with Piers at Outer Spikemuth, discussing things related to Chairman Rose and the condition of Spikemuth, until commotion coming from the other side of the Route 9 Tunnel caught their attention. It turned out that Sonia had been attacked en route to meet Henry and Casey. While Leon took her to Hammerlocke, Piers took the camera she had held and took it to Route 9. He handed it over to the Pokémon attacking Henry and Casey, initially enraging Casey, but she calmed down when Piers revealed that he had removed the camera's memory card before handing it over. However, it turned out that the same attack that had hit Sonia had also corrupted the data on the card, making the one video stored on it almost completely unintelligible.

==Trivia== | ==Trivia==
* | * The theme for this route, as well as Routes 6, 7, and 8, is a shortened version of the theme used in the northern parts of the Wild Area.
* Swimmer Jacob mentions that swimming experts can swim all the way from Galar to Kalos. This is a double reference to the famous English Channel#History of Channel crossings between England and France, and to X and Y, where the player can meet a similar Swimmer in Azure Bay who says he could swim all the way from Kalos to Hoenn.

Route 9 (Japanese: 9番道路 Route 9) is a route in northeast Galar that connects Circhester, Spikemuth, and the Route 9 Tunnel. The middle portion of the route is also known as Circhester Bay (Japanese: キルクスの入り江 Circus Bay), while the southern portion is also known as Outer Spikemuth (Japanese: スパイクタウンはずれ Spike Town Outskirts).
Route description
Route 9 starts out as a cold, snowy route. The same river that runs through Route 8 also appears here. Unlike on Route 8, however, here it is possible to traverse the river and access a secluded area where TM64 (Avalanche) and a wanderer Glalie can be found.
Two entrances to Spikemuth are also found here, with the main gate being initially closed until the player has earned the Dark Badge. In the west, Outer Spikemuth provides access to the Route 9 Tunnel, which connects Route 9 to Route 7.

In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
In Pokémon Adventures, there's a highway running across Circhester Bay, allowing it to be crossed by driving.
Sword & Shield arc
Trivia
- The theme for this route, as well as Routes 6, 7, and 8, is a shortened version of the theme used in the northern parts of the Wild Area.
- Swimmer Jacob mentions that swimming experts can swim all the way from Galar to Kalos. This is a double reference to the famous English Channel crossing swims between England and France, and to X and Y, where the player can meet a similar Swimmer in Azure Bay who says he could swim all the way from Kalos to Hoenn.
