Trivia
- Mantyke is the only Pokémon so far that needs another Pokémon to be in the party in order to evolve it.
- It is the second heaviest baby Pokémon behind Munchlax.
- Mantyke, along with Spinarak, Dusknoir and Arbok have patterns that resemble a face on their bodies.
- At a catch rate of 25, Mantyke is third only to the Beldum evolutionary family and Ulgamoth as the most difficult non-legendary to catch. This makes it more difficult to capture than Dialga or Palkia (25 in comparison to 30).
- Despite what is said in the Pokédex, Mantyke's face on its back didn't differ in the back sprite of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
- Mantyke is the only Water or Template:Type2 Baby Pokémon so far.
- Oddly, Mantyke can learn Signal Beam through breeding, yet it cannot learn it from a Move Tutor. Mantine, however, can relearn that move.
- Signal Beam is also the only move that does appear on Mantyke's egg move list and doesn't on Mantine's
Origin
Mantyke is based on a baby manta ray.
Name origin
Mantyke is a combination of manta and tyke, a word sometimes used to described a child. Its Japanese name, Tamanta, is a combination of 玉 tama, ball, and manta.
