Colress is first met in Castelia City and just like in the animated promo, he talks to the player about how he disagrees with the old Team Plasma and their goals to liberate Pokémon and human beings. The player shortly meets Colress again in Route 4 where there are lots of Crustle blocking the path. Colress then uses his machine to drive the Crustle away and challenges the player to a battle, and loses. Colress is once again seen as a participant, along with the rival and Cheren at the Pokémon World Tournament to challenge the player. Throughout most of the game, he can be met and will talk to the player mostly about Team Plasma.

Later on, during the battle against the new Team Plasma on the Plasma Frigate, Colress is seen in a chamber, where he reveals himself as a member of Team Plasma because he wanted to pursue and research on the strength of Pokémon even more. Colress then challenges the player once again. Once he is defeated, he will allow access to Ghetsis' chamber, claiming he wants to see the player put a stop to his plans.

After the second defeat of Ghetsis and the player becoming the Pokémon Champion, Colress is still dwelling within the Plasma Frigate. However, he, along with other Team Plasma members, have decided to put an end to their ambitions. Colress will ask the player to battle him, and can be battled every day. He will give the player a second Master Ball for the first rebattle.

Trivia

  • Colress does not have an introduction and VS sprite the first two times he is fought. The third time, he has the Team Plasma template used by N and Ghetsis, and in all subsequent battles, he uses the basic template used for Gym Leader and rival battles.
    • This is because at first Colress wasn't well known, then he was revealed to be a part of Team Plasma, and has eventually quit being a part of Team Plasma.
  • During early information about Black 2 and White 2, Colress was believed to be the new Pokémon Professor, due to his appearance and his studies for Pokémon.
  • Colress is the second person to resent Team Plasma after their defeat, the first being N.
    • Both held higher authority over Team Plasma, (N was king rather than just an admin, like Colress) and both N and Colress were loyal to the players from Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 respectively during the time.
  • Colress' international name was mistakenly pronounced as Corless.
    • Similarly, his Japanese name changed from Akuroma to Achroma.
  • Colress' hair is spiraled and blue, possibly to fit the theme of Team Plasma.
  • Despite having talked to the player for the first time in Castelia City near the fountain, the promotion trailer revealed him to have a Magneton at the time, but his Magnemite has not evolved yet during the time in Black 2 and White 2.
  • Colress' machine is similar to some of the key items in Generation III, such as the Devon Scope, the Poké Flute and the Silph Scope. They remove certain Pokémon out of the way: Crustle, Kecleon, Snorlax and Marowak respectively.
