During a Tough Contest, performing a Tough move will excite the crowd. Beauty and Cute moves will not go over well. Many Tough moves are Normal, Steel, Ground or Rock types, but other types may be Tough as well.
The toughness condition is raised by Poffin or Pokéblocks made with sour-flavored berries. Pokémon with natures that boost physical defense - Bold, Relaxed, Lax, and Impish - get the most benefit from sour berries, so they will be the easiest to raise for a toughness contest.
