Route 12 (Japanese: 12番道路 Route 12) is a route in northern Kalos, connecting Shalour City, Coumarine City, and Azure Bay. The route is also known as Fourrage Road (Japanese: フラージュ通り Fourrage Road). This route is the location of Baa de Mer Ranch, where several Skiddo can be ridden on. The Skiddo can be used to access areas of the route that are blocked by fences or ledges.
Route description
Route 12 is divided apart by a body of water, requiring Surf to get across and thus preventing the player from advancing past it until they've beaten Korrina at the Shalour Gym and thus become able to use said HM move outside of battle. Near the Shalour City gate stands a Pokémon Breeder, who, after the player has earned the Rumble Badge, will give them his Lapras as a gift. The other side of the route is decorated by fields of grass and yellow flowers.
Baa de Mer Ranch
- Main article: Baa de Mer Ranch
Baa de Mer Ranch is a ranch dedicated solely for Skiddo. The player can ride a Skiddo to access areas beyond otherwise unsurpassable ledges. A part of the ranch fence is broken down, allowing the player to ride Skiddo on the main route as well. While riding a Skiddo, the player cannot encounter wild Pokémon, interact with NPCs or signs, use field moves, or use items like the Dowsing Machine. Skiddo cannot be ridden outside of the route. It can be dismounted at any point, except for tall grass or flowers.

Route 12 first appeared in Splitting Heirs!, where it is depicted as a forested path. A Pokémon Center is located along the route, as seen in The Clumsy Crier Quiets the Chaos!. Lagoon Town is also located along the way, appearing in Dreaming a Performer's Dream!. It has a theater where Pokémon Showcases are held. Serena caught her Pancham when visiting the town.
Another town is located after Lagoon Town, visited in A Campus Reunion!. The town is home to an academy which specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. Clemont reunited with a Luxio that he met as a Shinx in the town. Beyond this town is another town, appearing in Bonnie for the Defense!. There is a lake near the town, surrounded by rocky cliffs, which connects to a river that leads to the ocean.
There is a forested path following the second town, as shown in Pathways to Performance Partnering!. Another town is located further on, as shown in When Light and Dark Collide!. A small stage is located there. Ash participated in a play in the town after accidentally injuring one of the cast members.
After the town is yet another forested path, as shown in A Stealthy Challenge!, where Ash and his friends met up with Sanpei again. A river is also located within the forest. The Baa de Mer Ranch is located just beyond the forest, appearing in A Race for Home!.
After the ranch is another forested path, as shown in Facing the Grand Design!. The forest is home to wild Ledyba, Bidoof, Flabébé, Inkay, and Malamar living in peace. A rocky hill called Grace Tower is also located within the forest. The forest was almost destroyed by the evil, psychopathic Malamar who plotted to change the world, but was stopped in time by Ash, his friends, Officer Jenny, and Team Rocket, with some help from the forest Pokémon.
Ash catches a Goomy falling from the sky in A Slippery Encounter!. A river is located within the forest, as shown in the episode. The forested path in One for the Goomy! eventually leads to Coumarine City.
