Surskit is a blue insectoid Pokémon. There are semicircular pink markings under its dark, circular eyes. It has a round body with four long, skinny legs extending from it. On top of its head is a yellow cap with a single antenna that secretes a thick, sugary syrup or a sweet scent. The syrup is exuded as a defense mechanism, while the scent can attract prey. This Pokémon can also secrete oil from the tips of its feet, which enables it to walk on water as though skating. Surskit inhabits List of Pokémon by habitat, where it feeds on microscopic, aquatic organisms. However, it sometimes appears in puddles after a rainstorm.

In the anime
Surskit inhabits List of Pokémon by habitat, where it feeds on microscopic, aquatic organisms. It's also known to appear in puddles after rainstorms. In its natural habitat, Surskit has been known to compete with Dewpider over food.

Major appearances
Surskit first appeared in Maxxed Out!. It was owned by a boy named Max, the doppelgänger‎ of May's little brother, who intends for it to be his starter Pokémon. This made May's brother jealous as he did not know what his starter Pokémon would be at that time.

In Destiny Deoxys, a Surskit was owned by Kathryn. The Pond Skater Pokémon's only major role was helping to rotate the fan blades of the windmills in City.
Evolution
Surskit evolves into Masquerain.

May faced against a Surskit in the Izabe Island Contest during A Cacturne for the Worse. Harley tricked May into thinking that Surskit was an extremely slow Pokémon and nearly lost due to this lie.
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

<div style="float:center; display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap;">
A Coordinator named Brianna used a Surskit in the appeals round of the Pokémon Contest in Spontaneous Combusken.

Major appearances
Surskit debuted in Maxxed Out!. It was friends with a boy named Max, the doppelgänger of May's little brother, who intended for it to be his first Pokémon. This made May's brother jealous as he did not know what his first Pokémon would be at that time.
In Destiny Deoxys, a Surskit is Kathryn's main Pokémon. It helped the group rotate the blades of the windmills in City.
In A Cacturne for the Worse, Kent used a Surskit in the Purika Contest. It went up against May's Bulbasaur and nearly defeated it due to Harley tricking May into thinking Surskit was an extremely slow Pokémon.
In Spontaneous Combusken, Brianna used a Surskit in the Appeals Round of the Chrysanthemum Contest. Surskit's performance allowed Brianna to advance to the Contest Battles.
In A Blustery Santalune Gym Battle!, Viola used a Surskit in a Gym battle against Ash. It managed to defeat Ash's Pikachu with Signal Beam before being defeated by Fletchling later. In the next episode, it was defeated by Pikachu during Ash's rematch against Viola. In Breaking Titles at the Chateau!, Surskit battled Grant's Onix at the Battle Chateau and was defeated.
In Dewpider Ascending!, a Surskit was living near the Pokémon School. It had a battle against a Dewpider over its territory, but during the battle, it evolved into Masquerain and flew off.
Minor appearances
A Surskit appeared in PK13.
In On Olden Pond, a Surskit was living at an old lake.
In Up Close and Personable!, a Surskit was living at the lake near the Pokémon Summer Academy.
In A Trainer and Child Reunion!, a Surskit was living in a forest where Aaron's training center was located at.
In Coming Full-Festival Circle!, multiple Surskit were listening to Nando as he played his music.
In Zoroark: Master of Illusions, multiple Surskit were living in Crown City.
In Genesect and the Legend Awakened, multiple Surskit were living at Pokémon Hills.
Two Surskit appeared in Alola to New Adventure!.
A Surskit appeared in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One).

* Due to a typo in the spawner data in Scarlet and Violet, where the area IDs were entered as "1,4.5,7" instead of "1,4,5,7", Surskit has spawner data for South Province Areas Two and Four, (area IDs 4 & 5), but will only spawn in Areas One and Five, (area IDs 1 & 7). No location in Paldea corresponds to the ID value "4.5".
** This was partially fixed in Version 3.0.0+, as it now properly spawns in South Province (Area Two).

Surskit (Japanese: アメタマ Ametama) is a dual-type Bug/Water Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves into Masquerain starting at level 22.

Biology

A Pokémon card featuring Surskit skating on water

Surskit is a blue insectoid Pokémon. There are semicircular pink markings under its dark, circular eyes. It has a round body with four long, skinny legs extending from it. On top of its head is a yellow cap with a single antenna that secretes a thick, sugary syrup or a sweet scent. The syrup is exuded as a defense mechanism, while the scent can attract prey. This Pokémon can also secrete oil from the tips of its feet, which enables it to walk on water as though skating.

Surskit inhabits ponds, rivers, and similar wetlands, where it feeds on microscopic, aquatic organisms. It's also known to appear in puddles after rainstorms. In its natural habitat, Surskit has been known to compete with Dewpider over food.

Evolution

Surskit evolves into Masquerain.

Major appearances

In Destiny Deoxys, a Surskit is Kathryn's main Pokémon. It helped the group rotate the blades of the windmills in LaRousse City.

Trivia

  • Surskit can be seen as a counterpart to Dewpider. Both share the Bug and Water types and the same base stat total of 269, both evolve at the same level, and both can be found at Brooklet Hill in Pokémon Sun and Moon, taking the place of the other depending on the time, with Surskit being found during the night and Dewpider in the day.
  • Due to a typo[1] in the spawner data in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, where the area IDs were entered as "1,4.5,7" instead of "1,4,5,7", Surskit has spawner data for South Province Areas Two and Four, (area IDs 4 & 5), but will only spawn in Areas One and Five, (area IDs 1 & 7). No location in Paldea corresponds to the ID value "4.5".
    • This was partially fixed in Version 3.0.0+, as it now properly spawns in South Province (Area Two).

Origin

Surskit seems to be based on a water strider. The shape of its body is reminiscent of a curling stone, which slides across ice similarly to how Surskit can slide across the surface of water.

Name origin

Surskit may be a combination of surface or surf and skitter (moving in a hurried or twitchy manner).

Ametama may be a combination of 雨 ame (rain), 水黽 amenbo (water strider), and 玉 tama (sphere). It may also involve 飴玉 amedama (candy), due to its sweet, syrupy secretions.
