Two other employees at the tables on the left specifically mention that they are looking for ways to help Pokémon who may have been affected by Team Skull. ==Trivia==
Trivia
* A poster image in the Game Freak office resembles Gigantamax Toxtricity, which wouldn't debut until Sword and Shield, leading to fan speculation that this was deliberate foreshadowing. However, Gigantamax Toxtricity's designer Yusuke Kozaki debunked this claim, stating that the resemblance is coincidental.

Origin
Pokémon world in relation to the real world#Alola
Heahea City was likely designed after the many tourist attractions and resorts found on the western and southern end of Maui, Hawaii. Mainly evident of the Tide Song Hotel, the neighboring Hano Grand Resort and the Akala Tourist Bureau. Geographically, if the island of Akala was rotated 90 degrees clockwise to match Maui, Heahea City would roughly line up with Kahului, Hawaii.

Game Freak office

The Game Freak office is located on the second floor of the thirdSM/fourthUSUM building to the east of the Pokémon Center; immediately to the southwest of the Dimensional Research Lab.

GAME FREAK Morimoto resides here; he will battle the player once per day after they become Champion, and will give the player the Oval Charm after defeating him for the first time. The Game Director also resides in the office, who gives the player the Shiny Charm for obtaining all the Pokémon in the Alola Pokédex, except Mythical Pokémon. There are also a few game developers working on their computers.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Morimoto will challenge the player in a Double Battle alongside Iwao, again under the conditions present in Sun and Moon, and give them the Oval Charm after defeating them for the first time. Speaking to Iwao after obtaining all of the Pokémon in the Alola Pokédex will earn the player the Shiny Charm and one of two clothing sets depending on the player's gender. After the player's first use of Ultra Warp Ride, an Aether Foundation Employee will be situated in the lower left corner of the office and offer to change the feature's controls between motion controls and Circle Pad controls. One of the employees in the office will give a number of statements to the player if they show him a Pokémon originating from the Virtual Console releases of the Generation I and Generation II games, the statements varying depending on the game of origin. In addition, the first time he's shown a Pokémon from a Generation II game, he will give the player a full set of Apricorn Poké Balls.

An Aether Foundation office room is found on the floor above the one containing GAME FREAK's office in the building next door to the Dimension Research Lab acting as an Aether Base. This office room is mostly white matching the aesthetic of the other bases and Aether Paradise. It contains fiver Aether Foundation Employees and one scientist. If the player chooses to come here, it is their first potential exposure to the Aether Foundation, and the two employees at the service desk will explain that their purpose is to help protect Pokémon who may have been hurt. Two other employees at the tables on the left specifically mention that they are looking for ways to help Pokémon who may have been affected by Team Skull. The room serves no functionality other than world building and introductory to the Aether Foundation. It serves as one of two bases found on Akala Island, the other being on Route 8.

Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc

Heahea City first appeared in Going Ashore and Neighboring Akala Island. Professor Kukui transported Sun and Moon there by boat so that Sun could begin the island challenge. Shortly after arriving, Kukui left to visit the Dimensional Research Lab and asked Sun and Moon to wait at the docks until he returned. While they waited, Sun and Moon were approached by Kiawe, Lana, and Mallow. Outraged that a person not native to Alola was taking on the island challenge, Kiawe chose to battle Sun in order to test if he was worthy enough to participate in it. However, the battle ended when Sun and Kiawe discovered each other's common interest in saving up money.

In True Identity and the Totem Pokémon of Brooklet Hill, while Sun, Moon, and the Trial Captains went to the Heahea City Pokémon Center Café to discuss about Sun's upcoming Brooklet Hill trial, Professor Kukui visited the Dimensional Research Lab and sent data regarding Palkia, Giratina, and Bronzong to his wife Professor Burnet. The two also discussed about Lillie and Nebby, with Kukui learning that the latter is actually a Legendary Pokémon called Cosmog.

Trivia

Origin

Main article: Pokémon world in relation to the real world → Alola

Heahea City was likely designed after the many tourist attractions and resorts found on the western and southern end of Maui, Hawaii. Mainly evident of the Tide Song Hotel, the neighboring Hano Grand Resort and the Akala Tourist Bureau. Geographically, if the island of Akala was rotated 90 degrees clockwise to match Maui, Heahea City would roughly line up with Kahului.
