(Japanese: ゲノセクト Genesect) is a dual-type Bug/Steel legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, though it has other Formes.
It is currently the final Pokémon in both the Unova Pokédex and the National Pokédex.
Biology
Physiology
Genesect has a head like a UFO, with two large eyes and a small mouth. Its body is similar to a Scizor, but more articulate. It has a powerful cannon (named in the Techno Buster move as the Photon Blaster) on its back that was apparently added as part of the bizarre modifications made to it by Team Plasma.
Gender differences
Genesect is a genderless species.
Special abilities
Being modified by Team Plasma, Genesect is equipped with a powerful cannon that can shoot down everything around it. It is the only Pokémon capable of learning the move Techno Buster, which changes its type of blast depending on the cassette it holds. Genesect's cannon also give Genesect the ability to learn a variety of projectile-based moves like Zap Cannon, Energy Ball, or Flash Cannon or beam-based moves like Ice Beam, Hyper Beam, and Signal Beam. Genesect's sharp claws also allow it to learn moves like Fury Cutter and Slash. Genesect can also use flying type moves like Fly or Aerial Ace.

History
Genesect was going to be revived from a fossil and powered up by Team Plasma to create the most powerful Pokémon ever. However, N was against the project because he felt that any Pokémon modified by science had lost its pureness, which is why the project was abandoned. But one scientist kept working on it, annoyed that N denied his talent.

Trivia

- Genesect has the highest base stat total of all Bug-type Pokémon.
- Interestingly, Genesect can learn Fly, despite having no visible wings or known method of flight.
- Genesect is the only Pokémon which names a villainous team in its Pokédex entry.
- Genesect is the last Pokémon in the National Pokédex order.
- Genesect is the only Pokémon which ends a generation in National Pokédex order that is not Psychic-type in at least one form.
- Despite it being its signature move, Genesect does not receive STAB from Techno Buster.
Origin
Genesect may be generally based on the giant insects of the Paleozoic era, which existed for 300 million years, making it as old as the cockroach. Its Steel-type features that give it a somewhat robotic appearance are a reference to alien robots in science fiction media.
Name origin
Genesect's name may be a combination of the English words gene or genetics and insect.
