Genesect (Japanese: ゲノセクト Genesect) is a dual-type Bug/Steel legendary Pokémon. Genesect is currently the only Pokémon that has not yet been officially revealed by Nintendo.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, though the light on the cannon on its back changes color and the type of its signature move Techno Blast changes depending on the Drive it is holding.
- When it is not holding any Drive, the light is orange, and Techno Blast is Template:Type2.
- When it is holding the Burn Drive, the light turns red, and Techno Blast is Template:Type2.
- When it is holding the Douse Drive, the light turns blue, and Techno Blast is Template:Type2.
- When it is holding the Shock Drive, the light turns yellow, and Techno Blast is Template:Type2.
- When it is holding the Chill Drive, the light turns white, and Techno Blast is Template:Type2.
It is currently the final Pokémon in both the Unova Pokédex and the National Pokédex.
Biology
Physiology
Genesect has a purple metal body with a saucer-shaped head, two large red eyes and a small white part that could either be its mouth or a vent. Its body is similar to Scizor, but more articulate. It has a powerful cannon on its back that was apparently added as part of the bizarre modifications made to it by Team Plasma. It could possibly be a sort of cyborg, due to its given enhancements and Steel typing.
Gender differences
Genesect is a genderless species.
Special abilities
Being modified by Team Plasma, Genesect is equipped with a powerful cannon. It is the only Pokémon capable of learning the move Techno Blast, an attack which changes type depending on the Drive it holds. It is indicated that even before Team Plasma powered up Genesect, it was a skilled and ruthless hunter.

History
Genesect was revived from a Fossil and technologically enhanced by Team Plasma to create the most powerful Pokémon ever. N had the project cancelled and the P2 Laboratory closed because he felt that Pokémon, who he thought to be perfect beings, would lose their beauty if modified by science. However, Scientist Dudley kept working on it, angry that N denied his talent. This scientist reconstructed Genesect and installed the cannon on its back.

Trivia
- Despite its Pokédex entries stating that it is a resurrected prehistoric Pokémon, it is not Rock-type like fossil Pokémon that can be resurrected by the player, though this could be due to the modifications made to it by Team Plasma.
- Genesect is the only Bug-type legendary Pokémon, excluding Arceus holding the Insect Plate.
- Genesect has the highest base stat total of all Bug-type Pokémon.
- Genesect can learn Fly, despite having no visible wings or known method of flight.
- It is one of only two Bug-type Pokémon that can learn Fly. The other is Volcarona.
- Neither of these Pokémon are Flying-type, nor can they have the ability Levitate, and were both introduced in Generation V.
- Genesect is the only Pokémon which names a villainous team in its Pokédex entry, in this case, Team Plasma.
- Genesect is the last Pokémon in National Pokédex order.
- Of the Generation V event legendary Pokémon, Genesect is the only one that does not have an event signature move. Victini, Keldeo and Meloetta obtain their respective signature moves through events, whereas Genesect has Techno Blast as a starting move.
- Despite it being its signature move, Genesect cannot receive STAB from Techno Blast.
- Genesect's backstory is similar to Mewtwo's: both were created by villainous teams in at least one canon, and genetically engineered and enhanced to be more powerful.
- Genesect's different sprites are not recognized as form differences by the Pokédex. The same is true for Arceus.
Origin
Genesect is generally based on the giant insects of the Paleozoic era, which existed for 300 million years, making it as old as the cockroach. Its Steel-type features that give it a somewhat robotic appearance may be a reference to alien robots in science fiction media, however this may be because of Team Plasma's modifications. Its design is also possibly inspired from the "Artillery Mech" concept used in various Sci-Fi animes produced in Japan.
Name origin
Genesect's name may be a combination of the English words gene, genetics, genome, or genesis, and insect.
