History
Renji debuted in SS002, where he was present during the opening of Sakuragi Institute. He later saw Professor Oak and Delia off as they returned to Pallet Town. Renji was formally introduced in SS003, where he apologized for being late due to a traffic jam caused by an outbreak of Ivysaur.
Character
Renji is skilled despite his unkempt appearance. He appears to be widely knowledgeable about Pokémon, which was best displayed when he explained the Dratini evolutionary line to Ash and Go.
