Pierce (Japanese: フリント Flint) is a recurring character who appeared in the Pokémon anime. He is a member of Team Rocket.

History

Pierce in the anime

Pierce was first mentioned in The Bloom Is on Axew! as being sent by Giovanni to help Jessie, James, and Meowth in a mission. In A Rival Battle for Club Champ!, when Jessie, James and Meowth were intercepted by Officer Jenny and the other police officers, Pierce came in driving a truck and drove away with the trio. Officer Jenny and the police followed until they came across a half-constructed road. The truck pushed on and toppled into the ground below and exploded. However the group escaped with jetpacks, and Pierce later gave them a briefcase and flew off.

In A Home for Dwebble!, Pierce gave the trio orders to head to a research facility. He then met up with them again, where Jessie handed him the data he wanted. He met the trio once again in A Night in the Nacrene City Museum! in Nacrene City and gave them orders about the dummy meteorite they received in Here Comes the Trubbish Squad!.

In Scraggy-Hatched to be Wild!, Pierce told the trio to meet him. He appeared in a helicopter and the trio jumped in. Aboard, he introduced Dr. Zager who examined the meteorite and told them that the materials were not from this world.

In A Venipede Stampede!, Pierce, Jessie, James, Meowth, and Dr. Zager finally found the Meteonite at the Desert Resort. He was set to make an appearance in the two following episodes, in which, after helping to secure the Meteonite from Relic Castle, he was to depart back to Kanto alongside Giovanni and Dr. Zager, but these never aired and have since been retconned out of continuity. He has not been seen since.

Character

Pierce takes his job as an agent very seriously, and as a result, he obtained a high rank within Team Rocket. He often acts as a handler for the trio, passing on information and assignments from Giovanni when they cannot contact him themselves. He also brings Giovanni information obtained as a result of the trio's missions. Pierce tends to be impressed whenever the trio does well, and he does not hesitate to compliment them for it.

Trivia

Pierce's uniform in the unaired BW023
  • Pierce's Team Rocket uniform has a unique design, but due to his usually wearing a trench coat and the skipping of his final two appearances, it is never fully seen in any of the aired episodes. It appears in A Venipede Stampede!, but it can only be seen from the back.
