(Japanese: リント Rinto) is a recurring character who appeared in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.

History

Rinto first appeared in JN051. He was first seen at Rock Tunnel, watching the World Coronation Series battle between Ash and Genba. After seeing Farfetch'd run off after defeating Genba's Gurdurr, Rinto spoke to Ash about Farfetch'd's huge potential. He then had a battle against Ash and Farfetch'd using his Gallade and won with just one move. Before he left, Rinto talked about the lack of synchrony between Ash and Farfetch'd and that he would like to battle Ash again when they became more in sync.

Sometime after the battle with Ash, Rinto manages to grow in the championship ranking, managing to reach Great Class. Rinto also traveled to Kalos to participate in a training camp hosted by Wikstrom at the Hall of Chivalry.

During a visit to the Pokémon Center in JN060, Rinto meets Ash again, after both discuss their training with their respective Pokémon, Rinto decides to have a battle in the World Coronation Series with Ash. Initially, Rinto and Gallade have gained an advantage during the battle, including trying to destabilize Ash and Farfetch'd. During the battle, Gallade manages to cut Farfetch'd's leek, which makes Farfetch'd end up having no idea what to do. Ash then decides to use part of what he learned from Wikstrom and tells Farfetch'd to use both parts of the leek as a sword and a shield.

After Farfetch'd's confidence is renewed and Wild Duck Pokémon evolves during the battle, Rinto decides to have Gallade try to use his Hidden Ability, despite this Gallade fails to win the battle and Ash and his Sirfetch'd end up winning the match causing Rinto's ranking to go down. After the hard battle, Rinto and Ash greet each other, wishing that they continue to grow in the championship.

Character

Rinto is very observant and analytical, analyzing Ash's Farfetch'd and his battling style. Despite respecting other Trainers, Rinto acted with a certain amount of sarcasm towards Ash in his relationship with his Pokémon, such as ignoring Ash's presence and talking only to his opponent's Farfetch'd.
