Jacq (Japanese: ジニア Zinnia) is a character introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. He serves as the biology teacher of Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV, as well as the homeroom teacher for the general studies track.

In the core series games

Jacq is a biology teacher who works at Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV. He is also the player's homeroom teacher, as well as the developer of the Pokédex app for the Rotom Phone. Although he is very well-versed in his field, he is somewhat airheaded, and is sometimes lost in his own research.[1]

Jacq and Professor Willow discussed the Pokémon Gimmighoul in a promotional video for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, uploaded on November 6, 2022. Jacq was the one who named Gimmighoul's Chest Form.[2]

Jacq also participates in the Academy Ace Tournament. Upon the player completing more and more of the Pokédex, he grants them various rewards, culminating in a Shiny Charm after the player has registered all 400 Pokémon entries.

"Thank you. Your lecture, "Strolling through the World of Pokémon," was fantastic, too!"
"It's very nice to meet you! Hm? Oh! That coin...!"
"I think I might... I know we were supposed to discuss Diglett, but can I get a rain check? This is something that I want to look into!"
"Thank you! I’ll see you later, then. Happy exploring!"

Trivia

  • Jacq was intended to speak in the World Pokémon Ecological Society mock seminar that showcased Wiglett, but he ran late and ended up unable to attend, according to an unnamed assistant. Despite this, Professor Willow mentions Jacq having spoken at the World Pokémon Ecological Society conference.[3]
