Tera Blast (Japanese: テラバースト Tera Burst) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation IX. It is TM171 in Generation IX.

Effect

This move effect may be in need of research. Reason: Does the move's category actually change, or only the stat used for damage calculation? Under what circumstances does this happen? For what purposes other than Gale Wings is Tera Blast considered Normal-type? Is the super effectiveness against Terastallized targets true of this move only or Stellar type moves as a whole? Tera Blast deals damage. If the user's Attack stat is higher than its Special Attack stat, Tera Blast becomes a physical move when Terastallized; otherwise, it remains a special move. For determining which stat is higher, stat stage-modifiers are taken into account, but other effects (e.g. held items such as a Choice Band, Abilities such as Huge Power, etc.) are not.

If the user has Terastallized, Tera Blast's type becomes the same as their Tera Type, is unaffected by moves and abilites that change its type, and has a different animation depending on the move's type. Tera Blast is always considered Normal-type for the purpose of Gale Wings.

If the user has Terastallized into the Stellar-type, it has a special interaction, and is super effective against Terastallized targets. This lowers the user’s Attack and Sp. Atk stats, however.

Description

Games Description SV If the user has Terastallized, it unleashes energy of its Tera Type. This move inflicts damage using the Attack or Sp. Atk stat—whichever is higher for the user.

• The TM for Tera Blast is incompatible with only two Pokémon, the fewest of any TM, TR, or HM in any generation.
