===Physiology===
Patrat is a rodent-like {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that resembles a {{wp|chipmunk}}. It is mostly brown with a tan stomach and face. It has a large pointed tooth that sticks out of its mouth. Patrat has a flat face, and its cheeks are very round. Patrat has cheek pouches that it uses to store food. Its ears are small and pointed. Its head has a black band that covers the eyes, which have red irises with a yellow ring and black pupils. Its feet are small and black with three toes. Its long tail has a scruffy white tip and is usually standing up straight. This tail is used for communication; its tail is raised when it sees an enemy. Patrat is very conscious and wary regarding its surroundings and is always on guard. [[BW018|The anime]] depicts Patrat living in tunnels.

Patrat appears to be based on a {{wp|prairie dog}}, {{wp|chipmunk}}, or {{wp|meerkat}}. The way it always look out for danger seems to be based on {{wp|scout}}s and doing reconnaissance.

====Name origin====
====Name origin====
Patrat is a combination of the words ''patrol'' and ''rat''. It also sounds similar to "pack rat", a slang term for some-one who stores a lot of unnecessary items, referring to its possible origin as a chipmunk which are known for storing nuts in their mouth. Its Japanese name is derived from 見 ''mi'', looking, and 木鼠 ''kinezumi'', squirrel.
Patrat may be a combination of ''patrol'' and ''rat'', as well as a play on ''{{wp|pack rat}}''.

Minezumi may be a combination of 見 ''mi'' (looking) and ''nezumi'' (mouse).

It evolves into Watchog starting at level 20.

Biology

Patrat is a rodent-like Pokémon that resembles a chipmunk. The anime depicts Patrat living in tunnels.

  • Patrat shares its category with Sentret and Hisuian Growlithe. They are all known as the Scout Pokémon.
  • Patrat has the lowest base stat total of all Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
  • Patrat appears in Pokémon Battle Chess BW Version. It acts like a pawn piece in chess, but can also move one square horizontally.

Name origin

Patrat may be a combination of patrol and rat, as well as a play on pack rat.

Minezumi may be a combination of 見 mi (looking) and 鼠 nezumi (mouse).
