Submission

I see you've taken Submission out of Ash's Charizard's move template, but I think you shouldn't have done that: I've seen the Japanese version, and the command for Submission (the actual move) is also in there. Besides, I think what Ash said was "aerial Submission", not "Aerial Submission." --FinnishPokéFan92 13:07, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

If I may butt in, I was thinking of raising the issue myself, having watched the episode today. Personally, I think that SnorlaxMonster has done the right thing, there is nothing to suggest that, like Counter attack/counterattack, Ash wasn't just telling Charizard to force a submission on Magmar. The producers wouldn't have Toon Ganondorf (t c) 13:28, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Route 5

I'm guessing you're the admin who closed the edit war over route 5, and it turned out in my favor, which isn't really my personal favor as much as it is common sense. The Liepards are never generated before the battle ensues, and any combination of Pokemon (species and gender) on that route can occur, so I have no clue why the person kept reverting it back to the "mated Liepards"

Long story short, thanks for ending the edit war. (Is this even where I'm suppose to post this sort of thing?) - unsigned comment from Johto-Master (talkcontribs)

You are correct, it was me. I don't really understand why it would be that way either. Just note that in future, it is better to discuss the edit on the other user's talk page or the talk page of the article, or simply contact an admin to resolve the conflict. Edit warring like you did is not permitted, even with good intentions. To answer your final question, here is probably the best place to put that sort of thing. --SnorlaxMonster 12:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Al right, sorry. I use Bulbapedia a lot, but this was my first time I was compelled to edit anything, because it seemed insanely odd. This is also my first time dealing with the "User pages" and want to know how to customize a bar like the one on the right side of your profile that says you speak English and are an Atheist etc. Or is that for Admin's only?--Johto-Master 13:01, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Nope, anybody can use it. You can't create a userpage until you are "autoconfirmed" though, which occurs after a secret number of edits and period of time. If you make a few more edits to Bulbapedia, you will be able to make one. This page is specifically designed for helping users to use what we call "usertags" (what you were asking about). The userspace policy also outlines the userspace in general. --SnorlaxMonster 13:21, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. Guess every time I'm compelled to fix something I will, but I don't see myself going out of my way for it.--Johto-Master 13:33, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Random Pokémon using

Hi SnorlaxMonster, i was wondering if i could use your random Pokémon thing for my page, if that's okay with you. Azure/ChromeVoid42 16:25, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Same. If so, thanks! ♣♣ Ƒǿҫὑṩ ❺❽ ♣♣ 16:47, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Sure. To make it all you need to do is put {{User:SnorlaxMonster/Random}} on your page, and it will put it there for you. --SnorlaxMonster 01:49, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

DP049 needs some trivia added...

I'd add that the episode was skipped in New Zealand for an unknown reason, but I can't, because the top says "Do not add any trivia" due to the high BW server load.
~~LDEJRuff~~ 16:07, 5 July, 2011 (EDT)

It's not that I didn't see your request, I was just getting around to it. I feel that skipped episodes are rather important to be noted. --SnorlaxMonster 08:14, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Edit request

Can you edit the Pokedex template so that entries from Pokemon Stadium 1 are recognised? I've left tons of posts on its talk page about this (as well as Red & Green and Japanese dex entries), but I've never had a reply. And the template is protected so only Admins can edit it. Apparently they were removed as the Dex entries were the same as the Game Boy ones, but that only applies to Pokemon Stadium 2. Here's a youtube video confirming the dex entries, saves going onto every individual page. Cheers in advance. XVuvuzela2010X 21:00, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Moves

As i told Cold, Confusion doesn't have the same effect and PP as Psychic, but still is considered the weaker version of the move. The thing i see the most, that makes Hurricane and Gust look alike is because of the Moves's similarities of the use of wind, and their names ( Real-life Hurricanes actually being very strong Gusts) Pokeand 17:43, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

We talked about it, and decided that moves being weaker or more powerful versions of each other shouldn't be noted. --SnorlaxMonster 04:38, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Video Requests

Hi, Snorlax. I'm sorry to bother you, but I noticed that you said it was technically advertising. See, the thing is, I discovered that glitch, and I felt like I didn't receive the credit. If you looked at Zowayixx's video, it said that I discovered it, yet that it seemed that Bulbapedia was giving him the credit for it. Is there any way that we could still use his video but give me credit for finding his glitch? Thank you for your time.Pupcakepup 15:47, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Battle Pike Wild Pokémon

Yes, the levels in Open Level only apply if at least one of your Pokémon is level 100. Basically, Seviper and Milotic are 4 levels weaker while Dusclops, Electrode, Breloom and Wobbuffet are 5 levels weaker.--Tempest370 17:03, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, thought as much. What do you think of formatting it like that? --SnorlaxMonster 00:50, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

New Signature?

How do you make a new signature, and how do you make it colorful? --YoshisWorld 23:34, 24 July 2011 (UTC)YoshisWorld

To change your signature, go to Special:Preferences, and modify it in the box which is labelled "New Signature". To make it colorful, you need to add <span style="color:#COLOR">TEXT</span>, with the text you want to make colorful in place of "TEXT", and either the hexadecimal value of the color where the word color is. You can get hexadecimal colors from color templates like {{Normal color}}, but you cannot put the template itself into your signature, as templates are not permitted in signatures. See the code used in my signature (by editing without saving) for more help -> SnorlaxMonster 02:09, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Bulbanews

Can you (or anyone else reading this who's bored and wants to try something really new) do me a huge favour and take care of the Danish article on Bulbanews right now? I know you're really busy over here but I really don't have any time right now. It needs a bit of a rewrite to make sense and the form seems to be mostly incomplete :/ Sorry to give you a mess. Thanks in advance. —darklordtrom 10:08, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Suggestion: combine all the M13 DVD release articles. I would, but I got a headache. I might mess up something :D tc²₆tc26 10:13, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
That's a good idea. (And I don't mind if you mess up provided the site doesn't crash. Also, don't move or redirect any of the existing ones.) —darklordtrom 10:44, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
You caught me AFK. Well, if tc isn't doing it due to his headache, I'll go do it now. And I like that idea of merging it with the other DVD article too. --SnorlaxMonster 12:31, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Template help needed

I've noticed you're good with templates, so I was wondering if you could help me with a template I created on the archives? I'm trying to fix it so that it would say, for example, Ash's Bulbasaur using Leech Seed in the anime. But I don't know how I would add the entry for the trainer in. XVuvuzela2010X 02:51, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

I still doesnt appear to be working unfortunately, for example if I type in
{{User:Vuvuzela2010/Template:MvAnime|Ash|Pikachu|Thunder|the anime|type=Electric}}
it ends up saying Ash using Pikachu in the anime, and if I instead replace it with
{{User:Vuvuzela2010/Template:MvAnime|Ash's Pikachu|Thunder|the anime|type=Electric}}
it does say Ash's Pikachu using Thunder in the anime, but it links to Ash's Pikachu (Pokémon). XVuvuzela2010X 03:25, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm actually going to create a demo on the talk page for you. I agree, it is a good idea. --SnorlaxMonster 03:26, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
I will also need some template help as well for mine to see if I am doing it right. PattyMan 03:38, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I've got a whole bunch of examples here. I also forgot to include the "trainerlink" parameter, whose function is obvious.
Regarding that Abilities template, I would just paste the code from the old one, and change move terms to Ability terms. However, Abilities don't have types, so something would need to go in place of what is currently a TM. At best, I would suggest Ability Urge, but there is probably a better option. I would rather not use an anime image, due to the sheer size.
Also, we could probably set both of these templates up to work with the manga too, just with a simple third parameter (so no "<name>=") which is either "anime" or the name of the manga, such as "Pokémon Adventures". --SnorlaxMonster 04:13, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
For both of the templates, what about the Pokémon that is in the image but is not using the attack such as James's Carnivine in the the Rock Head image and a Starmie in the Tackle image. The same will apply if there are more than two Pokémon in the image. PattyMan 04:59, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
I felt that it didn't need to be in the summary. Basically, you would just add [[Category:Carnivine]] to it as well as the template. We don't currently mention them in the summaries anyway. I mean, I could code it in, but what if there were multiple targets? Which reminds me, some moves have multiple users (such as a:File:Victreebel Arbok Tackle.png); I would suggest just putting the template on twice. --SnorlaxMonster 06:02, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

About splitting the Battle Frontier articles...

What??? Don't tell me that you'd prefer to have a bunch of stubs instead of two very organized, high quality articles. Besides, this was already discussed before: [1] [2] I believe that it's ridiculous to turn two featured articles into lists of links to short stubs about the facilities.--Tempest370 18:36, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Stubs? You must be joking. Those articles are huge. Each section is big enough for its own article. Plus, if we did, it would make it a lot easier to add the anime and manga sections to both the individual facilities and the overall frontier. It's consistent with what we usually do as well; for example: Department Stores, Game Corners, Trainer House, Passerby Analytics HQ, Big Stadium and Small Court, Battle Subway—all of which are articles about facilities (not necessarily battle facilities) in other locations which are too important to be a part of their location's article.
If we were to split them, the Gen III Battle Frontier's Battle Tower would be merged with Battle Tower (Hoenn), and the Gen IV one with Battle Tower (Sinnoh) (not Battle Tower (Johto) though, because these are being done by Generation). The List of wild Pokémon in the Battle Pyramid would become part of the Battle Pyramid article. I agree that the Battle Palace has a very short section at the moment, and in its current state it would be a stub, but there is plenty of information that can be added to it.
Also, there is plenty of non-facility content on the Frontier pages. If they can't hold up a featured article without the facilities crammed in there, then they shouldn't be featured anyway. They look like 5/7 articles forced onto one page.
The fact is that the more pages which should be separate which you cram into one, the information is omitted due to the size of the page. They were "discussed" over two years ago—we are looking at more complete, information-packed pages than before. Also, I don't consider "Should we do this?" "Nah." to be a discussion. If it had really been discussed, those sections would actually have more than two comments. --SnorlaxMonster 08:27, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Plus they kind of need some in depth anime and manga info...*cough* Ataro 08:40, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm not really sure which way you are arguing, but I agree. Splitting them will open up the anime and manga sections, and make it clear that both information on the individual facilities and the frontier as a whole is required. When you have anime and manga subsections throughout an article, you can tell it is time to split. --SnorlaxMonster 08:43, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Why Did You Revert Me?

? Drake Clawfang 05:49, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

It's one of only four Dragon-type pseudo-legendary Pokémon. It would be notable if they were all Dragon-type, but when two of them aren't, it isn't really notable. Also, you shouldn't be adding trivia anyway; see the top of every page. --SnorlaxMonster 05:59, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
Apologies about the second point, didn't realize that was still in effect. The second point though is just confusing since the pseudo-legendary page already notes the exact point I added to the Hydreigon page. Drake Clawfang 06:01, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
I removed from that page too, after discussing with a few other admins. --SnorlaxMonster 07:21, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Questions about a Gen II Glitch

I found out about this glitch which occurs in the Japanese versions of Gold and Silver, and I noticed that the 'Pedia doesn't have an article about it. I was going to write an article for it, but I got kinda confused about the whole thing; so I thought I would firstly ask to see if you or indeed anyone on the Project Glitchdex team know anything about this and might be able to offer some thoughts/advice on how to write an article on it.

Firstly, and very importantly: what would an article on this glitch be called? The link above refers to it as a 'Shiny Glitch'; however, it can occur without any Shiny Pokémon involved in it whatsoever ('creating' shiny Pokémon is just a popular use for the glitch). It wouldn't be a 'cloning glitch', seeing as it doesn't create perfect copies of Pokémon data. I was thinking then of calling it a 'Bug Catching Contest glitch'; but I'm not sure if that seems right either?

Secondly, after performing the glitch I'm not sure of its **exact** effect. The Pokémon data created is of the same species as the Pokémon that was in second, but its name and stats are different to that Pokémon; and the new Pokémon data has the same moveset as the Pokémon that was in last position, and will be shiny if the Pokémon in last was shiny. Does that mean, then, that the new data inherits the IVs of the Pokémon that was last in the party?

Do you have knowledge of this glitch, and how an article on it might be written? (Or, if it is the case, if the article should not be written?) ***shiningSteelix*** 19:03, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for mentioning this. I think this video is the same glitch (if it is not, then please let me know, but it is as far as I can tell). The user of that Youtube account, Chickasaurus, has videos on several glitches Bulbapedia does not yet document. I do intend to get around to writing them, but I tend to try to do too many things at once. Since this one was brought up though, I'll go write it now. Also, for simplicity's sake, I'm going to use Chickasaurus's name for it too. --SnorlaxMonster 09:19, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi. This glitch seems to have been around since years ago, but with a slightly erroneous description. There seem to be two copies of the glitch on that site; this is the right one [3], albeit the other slightly erroneous description mentioned seems to be more widespread. I've seen the latter on really early websites predating 'glitcher.net', and it seems like it's been spread without people really checking it.

To clarify, the glitch only works in Japanese Gold and Silver because you can't Fly away from the Bug-Catching Contest in English versions, which is probably the cause for some of the confusion. Even though this is called a Shiny Pokémon glitch, what the glitch does is basically use a donor Pokémon (like the red Gyarados) and copies its properties to another Pokémon when you withdraw it at the Bug Catching Contest, meaning you could use it for anything really (e.g. to teach an [unstable] Pikachu Surf and Fly). Since you deposited your recipient Pokémon, this means you can also get your original back and keep the new hybrid Pokémon you receive. The glitch is an exploit of being able to escape the Bug-Catching Contest and tricking the game into thinking you're still in the contest, which is why if you walked back in after walking out, saying NO to come back in then Flying away the game would force you to walk down into the void when you walk back into the entrance as if you were trying to walk out from the north.

The trick is to deposit the donor last, perform the exploit, deposit a target Pokémon underneath it, save then return after a few minutes after the contest has finished. For some reason or another, the game lets you withdraw an unstable hybrid of the Pokémon above the Pokémon you last deposited. This glitch does not copy just DVs, but everything including the name, stats, moves, etc. It copies one byte of the species, but not the other so it's basically an unstable hybrid of the original Pokémon. If you deposit it into Day Care, it will revert back into the original Pokémon, so I believe the trick is to evolve it to stabilize the Pokémon (e.g. use a stone), however the glitch will work regardless of the Pokémon used provided that you're using the Japanese version. --Chickasaurus 12:29, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks muchly for the clarifications on this glitch <=).

I went ahead and wrote the article now, based on the discussion here and my own knowledge of the glitch; and I'm getting 'round to linking it to the other relevant glitch pages. But still, of course, feel to edit the article in any way needed; in particular, a possible explanation as to why the glitch occurs and maybe some images (if possible) may be helpful... ***shiningSteelix*** 21:30, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Arbok

Good afternoon.

Is this file necessary? The four patterns shown were already uploaded to the Archives. I removed it from Form differences. It's OK if you put back, but please don't undo my edition, I also changed other stuff. |) u |( e 20:04, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

I thought of something, the image you uploaded would be even in larger size. Tell me if you like it:

  • The Generation I Pokédex entries for Arbok state that there are six variations of markings on its belly that differ between regions. The pattern has differed in sprites; however, this is dependent on the game the Pokémon is in, rather than the game in which it was caught. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Arbok's abilities vary depending on its pattern.
Arbok's known patterns
|) u |( e 20:18, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
I didn't upload that image. I'm a little confused, but here is my opinion on the matter. I would give Arbok a subsection under the "other Pokémon" section. I'll do it soonish, when I have time. --SnorlaxMonster 02:18, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay, good idea. Arbok has even more differences, like 10 fangs and forked tongue with the first pattern and 4 fangs and pointed tongue with the other. It's enough for a subsection IMO. Thanks. |) u |( e 02:28, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
I don't know if you have access to images of those, but if you do they would be nice to include in the article as well. --SnorlaxMonster 04:37, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
I uploaded larger pics of the Sugimori arts, where those are visible. However, I realized the first pattern varies in the number of teeth (10 in the art, 12 in the anime, 4 in the games). I'll try to mention it properly in the article. |) u |( e 05:29, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Totally random subject.

As far as I know, there will be event(like/-ish [cross the wrong "answer"] stuff) in my country at August 20th... After reading information, I guess it will be the one that activates Ilex Forest shrine event... [4] (I'll guess you do not speak nor read in Polish :p). Marked +-+-+ 20:51, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Go ahead and report it on Bulbanews. Austalia still hasn't gotten that Celebi. No, I don't speak Polish. --SnorlaxMonster 02:18, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Pardon?

What do you mean can't sort it? I just thought it would be easier to view the cards if you could jump to the appropriate section SuiScorpio 04:25, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

I put class="sortable" on it, so if you click the buttons it sorts it by different columns.I can set up anchors in the template so you can link to individual card entries if you want, like on the item pages. --SnorlaxMonster 02:18, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Thyme

It's really a shame that he was deleted. We have much more minor characters covered in articles. And this one was pretty interesting. Also, what if he appears in the manga/anime? --Maxim 07:30, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

If that happens, then he will get an article. Practically every named anime character has an article. And we really shouldn't have more minor game characters have articles. --SnorlaxMonster 07:32, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to use your topic Maxim, but this is something I was also thinking of. SnorlaxMonster, if a character has an important role in a canon (such as Adventures) but doesn't appear in the games, neither was given a name, can an article be made for he/she? I think it would be accepted, based on these two: Trainer (EP248); Arnold's mother.
P.S.: Maxim, I think Thyme should me mentioned somewhere, maybe the admins would approve a mention in the Opelucid City article. (maybe even a redirect) |) u |( e 23:51, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I would just make a section on Opelucid City too. --SnorlaxMonster 02:06, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Assist

Are you saying that Sneasel and Chimchar can only have Assist as an egg move in HGSS, and not DPPt? LimeGreenCharizard 04:24, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Yes. Sneasal and Chimchar will not know Assist if the father does in DPPt, but will in HGSS. Also, we only include Pokémon that learn it via level up and can be a father, so Delcatty should not be listed since it does not learn it, only Skitty does. --SnorlaxMonster 04:35, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Fine, but the reason for the confusion was because of the fact that it was messed up in the first place. And I fixed it. Also, if we're only supposed to list Pokémon by level up, then why is it that on multiple Pokémon pages that I have looked at, under their specific breeding info, this isn't true? Example:Jolteon is listed under Sneasel's page as being able to pass on Bite. LimeGreenCharizard 04:44, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the way it is supposed to be, but unfortunately a lot of Pokémon pages use a different standard to the move pages. They should all use that standard, where only Pokémon that can father the Pokémon and learn it via level up should be listed. If it can only be passed on by chain breeding or Pokémon which learned it in a previous generation, they should be listed, and that fact should be noted. --SnorlaxMonster 04:49, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Questions

Hi SnorlaxMonster!

I have a few questions. Remember when you replied to me on PsychicRider's talk page about the template for the regions. I asked you if it was okay to move Orre, but I'm not sure if you saw it.

My next question is about the Pokémon released by date. I have created one for Generation IV. I just want to know if a Pokémon was revealed at a gaming conference (like Kecleon at the PokeFesta event), is that considered an official reveal or leaked? I have a few more questions about other Pokemon's reveal, but can't remember, so I will ask you again once I do.

Also, how do we get all 3 pages (3rd, 4th, and 5th generations) mainspaced? It would probably be better if we combined all three generations into one article, but I want to hear your input. Han Ji-Wan 02:16, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay in my reply; I saw it yesterday, then Bulbapedia was down (even checked with this) when I tried to reply.
Anyway, I think the Main/Side/Spin-off needs to happen. After that quote from Masuda, nobody disagreed, but nobody has actually bothered to do much about it. For it to actually happen, we need to work on getting version moved to main series, and the creation of a separate side series page. Anyway, after I left that message on your talk page, psy talked to me about it, and his main problem was the format rather than the intent.
For my Gen V one, I was pretty much going by what Bulbapedia/news did. I would say that if it revealed officially like Zoroark was, appears with a name and art (even in a leaked magazine scan), appears in the anime, or by the game they are in being released, with them available without glitches or cheating. I don't really know the circumstances of PokéFesta. Was it revealed by people playing a demo version, or was it announced there?
I never really intended for the pages to be separate. Go ahead and add your data if you want, but keep them in separate sections. Also, I would prefer having links on the dates, even if it means linking to Serebii. --SnorlaxMonster 08:57, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I'm new here (I joined a few months earlier but never got to edit here). Can you tell me if I can use userboxes? If yes can you give me a list of them? Flygonfanno1

Yep, userboxes are free for use by all users. Obviously you can't use staff ones though (the ones which say "I am a staff member"). Bulbapedia:Usertags should be helpful in teaching you to use them. All usertags are in Category:User tags, but in subcategories. --SnorlaxMonster 14:48, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

The HP Bar thing

Sorry for having so many questions but how do you do it? Like, with the Pokémon fighting and the Bag, Items, Run, and Pokémon option. And the Pokémon linking to talk page archives. Sorry for being confusing... --☆YoshisWorld☆ 23:57, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

It is probably quite hard to understand (I know I hate looking at other people's code), but you can see how it works here. Reading Help:Magic words and Help:Extension:ParserFunctions is a good thing to do if you want to understand template-level wikicoding (although it doesn't help with tables). --SnorlaxMonster 14:12, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. I revamped it and it looks good now. Would you mind if I used it? I'll give full credit to you. --☆YoshisWorld☆ 18:28, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
I should have mentioned this before, but I am really quite attached to that template. You are free to take the concept and look at the way it is coded, but I would appreciate if you didn't use something that is primarily my template. I'm just really protective of that template for some reason. I hope you understand. --SnorlaxMonster 10:35, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
That's fine, I understand. At least I know the coding and everything. Thanks anyway. --☆YoshisWorld☆ 12:00, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Spin tiles

You put a move template on spinner five months ago and didn't bother explaining why on the talk page. Do you even care? --Transfinite | Talk 00:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Must have forgotten to put why in my edit summary. The reason I haven't said anything about it is that there are countless tasks I want to/should do, but I don't have the time to do them all. Anyway, I don't think they have ever had an official name, and it should conform with the other articles by being a "spin tile". "Spinner" isn't a very descriptive name. --SnorlaxMonster 14:12, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Pokémon Reference

Hey I noticed the Pokémon reference page and I came across a show that possibly has a reference in it. It's in a show called MXC, known in Japan as Takeshi's Castle, and in certain episodes there is a game on there called Sperm Wheelers. They ride a bicycle that has a whale prop attached to it, that's why it's called that. The colors were blue, pink, and green. The blue one looks like Wailord and the pink one looks like its Shiny form. Do you think this is notable? I might be able to find pictures for proof. Pokedex493 06:43, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

I haven't heard of that show before, and I couldn't find any images of whales from it with a quick Google search. If you could get me an image, I could make a better judgement, but it sounds to me like it just slightly resembles a Wailord. If there was a green one as well, I think it was just a coincidence. However, I have not seen an image fo the whales, so I cannot makee an accurate judgement. --SnorlaxMonster 11:55, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
I was wrong. Last night I learned that the original version of the show was made in the 80's. Though it was a good theory, I was still wrong. Pokedex493 20:16, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Reshiram's Tail

Yea I thought it was a jet engine because i read that it expells fire through it in order to propel it forward, like a jet engine. Also it appears to be a jet engine because it is conical in shape and the part sticking out of it resembles jet exhaust. I guess it is based on an electric turbine but functions like a jet engine. Arceustheomnipotent 04:20, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Selfdestruct and Explosion.

Researched in Crystal (WHERE YOU DID GET THAT PROTECT AND DETECT EXIST IN RGBY? LOL). All six attempts failed to survive, win. Marked +-+-+ 11:05, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

That was me not considering the fact that they did not exist. Thanks for your research. --SnorlaxMonster 11:55, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
No problem... But... I think you need some rest. Copy 'n Paste much? Marked +-+-+ 12:05, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
*facepalm* Yeah, I knew I needed to change that, but I forgot. I need to stop and think more often. --SnorlaxMonster 12:08, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Archives

Open again. No idea what to do now, lol...I think I can upload status ailments (Gen IV), mainly Sleep (Gen I-IV)... and maybe bad poison for Gen IV - but what later? Marked +-+-+ 07:56, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Weren't you uploading a whole bunch of moves? If you do need something to do on the Archives, having all of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon item sprites would be nice (note that some change between Red/Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky). --SnorlaxMonster 08:00, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
I was. However, like ~6 moves are currently "useless" since program for combining frames into animated .png crashed (not enough memory ._.). Well, first get these status ailments, then moves of Gen I in Generation III and third... goes PMD, I think. All orbs share the same sprite, and look-a-like share with their normal counter parts as far as I remember (they aren't called look-a-like for nothing) Marked +-+-+ 08:10, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, there are a lot of shared sprites in PMD. We have a few uploaded already, such as this one. They could probably be organised on the archives better, but that is how they should be done until we change the standard (if you want to, that is fine). --SnorlaxMonster 08:12, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Dork1212

Shouldn't he have gotten, like, a warning first? Might just be me, but isn't it a tad harsh to permaban for a first offense? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 16:02, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

The user was clearly being destructive. If a user joins and just does clearly vandalistic edits straight away, protocol is to block without warning. If they had been constructive beforehand, they would still receive a block, but not a permaban. The user created those garbage pages and vandalized Magikarp, so that was enough for a permablock. --SnorlaxMonster 16:08, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Redirect?

You're the latest admin who's made the latest change in the RCs, so I was wondering if you could add a redirect for BW032? The English title doesn't lead to the episode. Thank you! :D Littlmiget123 21:15, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

You must have caught me just after I left. Anyway, I've done it now. However, there isn't any restriction on any (registered) users creating redirects, and the title for the episode wasn't protected. Or did you mean something else? --SnorlaxMonster 11:05, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
That's fine. Thank you. Though, I didn't know that non-admins could create redirects. I'll keep that in mind for the future. ^-^ Thanks again! Littlmiget123 13:03, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Item template.

{{Item |name=Blast Seed |jp=ばくれつのタネ |jpt=Rupture Seed |sprite=Seed |gen=III |mdex=yes |bag=MD |buyable=yes |sellable=yes |sell=15 |buy=30 |effect=If eaten, inflicts 35 damage to Pokémon in front of the user and restores Belly by 5. This gives

Template needs to include Time and Darkness combination, not all three games, only one or one of the first games and Sky (most info is from the article, description is from games. Marked +-+-+ 12:05, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

It is currently set up like the main series games are as well. If you want something Time exclusive, you need to put {{sup|PMDT}}; for something Time and Darkness exclusive, you need to put {{sup|PMDTD}}.
So you are planning on working on PMD items? Can I ask that you leave Food (Mystery Dungeon) then, because I have a WIP txt saved that I need to get around to eventually. --SnorlaxMonster 12:18, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
...Okey, though now I am doing Seeds. God, THREE (out of 2 "installed" into template) sell prices of Eyedrop Seed (20 in Rescue Team, 5 in Time and Darkness and 6 in Sky [at least article says so]) Marked +-+-+ 12:22, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Prices change between TD and Sky? That's not good. Do you have Time or Darkness? Because Eyedrop Seed does sell for 6 in Sky.
Do you have the Explorers of Sky Prima guidebook? Because I have it, and it has everything. It has every little detail I could ever want about the game (but not item descriptions, which are unimportant anyway). It has which items appear in each dungeon, so I can give a complete list for Sky, as well as all possible ways to obtain. I have found it an invaluable tool in working on anything PMD2-related. However, if TD and Sky have different sell prices, I'm worried it might not be as true for TD as I thought. --SnorlaxMonster 12:48, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
I don't have neither Time/Darkness nor guidebook. T_T I could ask at Yahoo or something. Marked +-+-+ 12:59, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Kogoro tried, and it sells for 6 in Time. So we're fine. --SnorlaxMonster 13:10, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Also, you may be interested in User:Maverick Nate/Seeds page and User:Maverick Nate/Seeds. That was him starting to do what you are doing. --SnorlaxMonster 13:12, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Sleep Seed. While it has only 2 buy prices, article says it changed in Sky, not Time/Darkness. The same for Warp Seed. Totter Seed - Sell price unknown for T/D, buy price for Rescue Team and T/D. Except missing prices in other seeds, nothing strange.Marked +-+-+ 13:18, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Sleep Seed: buy price is 70 in Sky
Warp Seed: buy price is 20 in Sky
Totter Seed: sell price is 30 while buy is 60 in TDS; same in RB.
This makes me pretty sure that anything we have that says TD is different to Sky in regards to prices is wrong. --SnorlaxMonster 13:39, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to butt in, but what about the other MD, for the Wii? We do have that, right....? There are technically "Buy Prices" for any item besides probably unsellable items because in Kecleon Shops in dungeons, you can receive the price of the Seed, etc. ht14 04:37, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
As much as I would like to document the WiiWare PMD, Bulbapedia seems have virtually no info on it because nobody has the game. If that is something that anyone could get, I would appreciate it. The WiiWare PMD doesn't even have location articles. And yeah, I've been giving everything Buy prices because you can sell things to Kecleon Shops in dungeons. --SnorlaxMonster 11:43, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Info tabs

Hi i am very new here and if you don't mind i will be asking a question or two once in a while. I looked at your user page and was wondering how you put up those little tabs on the side saying either what you did on Bulbapedia or just little facts about yourself. Exactly how do you do that? Arceustheomnipotent 05:39, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

That's okay, I don't mind answering your questions. Those little tabs are called usertags. You can click edit while looking at my page to see the code for them if you want (but don't save). There is a help page for teaching users to use usertags here. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. --SnorlaxMonster 07:24, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

I actually don't have a userpage yet, and a problem has come up in creating it. For some reason it says I don't have permission to edit in the User namespace, and it says that if I am a new user I will have to edit existing articles before I edit my userpage. Arceustheomnipotent 04:25, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it is correct. You need to edit articles in the mainspace before you can edit your userspace. It is outlined in the userspace policy. --SnorlaxMonster 11:43, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Is there a specific number of mainspace articles you have to edit before you can edit userspace? Because if you remember I did edit the reshiram page. Arceustheomnipotent 05:33, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

There is, but it is a secret number so that you can't just go edit exactly that many pages to be able to edit your userpage. It is a small number though. --SnorlaxMonster 05:52, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Is it possible to create a template because I want one for a Scientist and there isn't one. Arceustheomnipotent 04:54, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Please explain what you mean by scientist (your occupation is scientist, or your favorite Trainer class is Scientist). If you do create a usertag, ensure that you follow the Usertag policy. --SnorlaxMonster 06:23, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

I will give you an example as it is the best way for me to explain it. I have seen some usertags say "This user is an Artist" or "Fanboy" etc. I wish to have a usertag like that, only with Scientist. - unsigned comment from Arceustheomnipotent (talkcontribs)

I have made {{User Occupation}}. Please use this. Also, once you have submitted a message, you cannot add your signature later as the timestamp will be incorrect. --SnorlaxMonster 06:10, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Questions

Okay, I've got some questions to ask you. I know this is a MediaWiki powered wiki, but is this supported by a wiki farm or is this hosted by a webmaster or someone? Why are all pages protected for unregistered users and is there a policy for this wiki? If you could answer these questions, it would be helpful. Thanks. Natsu11 10:35, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Bulbapedia is not hosted by a wikifarm. Bulbapedia is part of Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden, whose webmaster is Archaic. In fact, Bulbapedia is one of the founding members of the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance, a group of wikis that are independent of wikifarms. A long time ago, it was decided that only users who have accounts should edit; it is not very difficult to create an account, and it makes things a lot more simple overall. It also deters vandals. There are several policies on this wiki: the most important policies are outlined on your welcome, the policy hub is located at Bulbapedia:Policy (although it is fairly outdated), and you can find a complete list of all of our policies here. I hope you enjoy your time here! --SnorlaxMonster 11:43, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

New rarity symbol

I just created the rarity for the Neo Destiny shining Pokémon cards. [[5]] how do you make it work like the others and apper on Bulbapedia? - unsigned comment from Rsrdaman (talkcontribs)

I don't really know enough about the TCG to know whether or not it should be changed, but I know how to add it; it would be added by editing of the template {{rar}}. I suggest you ask the leader of Project TCG talk page, or talk page. --SnorlaxMonster 06:10, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Two things.

1)This need to be updated to include Stadium 1 entries (since as far I saw Stadium 2 has description from either GSC or Stadium 1)

2)This one needs some refix, since I added this and now entire page is screwed due to big size (and due to some problems, I will mostly post static shots from Stadium 2 and Stadium 1). Marked +-+-+ 16:08, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

I was the one that had the image resizing removed from the Movegen template, since all other move images are no bigger than 300px, and it prevented the images from animating. Does it really need to be that big? Vuvuzela2010 23:02, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
Got Sandshrew picture... but how you resized the image without losing quality? Marked +-+-+ 09:51, 1 October 2011 (UTC) Resized it with GIMP. Let's hope it's good quality. Marked +-+-+ 10:26, 1 October 2011 (UTC) Nope. Blurry. Asking again - how you resized it without losing quality? (I failed >_>) Marked +-+-+ 10:33, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
I just used Paint, clicked resize, pixels, and reduced the horizontal length to 250px while maintaining the aspect ratio, so that the vertical length of that image auotomatically became 187px. Vuvuzela2010 10:58, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
  1. Done.
  2. You two seem to have sorted this out in my absence. --SnorlaxMonster 06:10, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Noticed that this one (used for key items from Generation I) isn't corrected (and Stadium 1 classifies as Generation I so...). It wasn't touched for like a year. Marked +-+-+ 10:51, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I completely forgot that even existed. Updated, and I fixed the horrible center-aligned name to align left (which the current one used to do as well). --SnorlaxMonster 11:20, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Apparently the description depends on the game, as Stadium 2 has description from Stadium 1 when viewing Yellow, and description from GSC when viewing one of these games. Marked +-+-+ 13:40, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
So it doesn't have any of its own descriptions? If so, then I'll just remove it. --SnorlaxMonster 13:41, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll guess it doesn't has. I have to left PP Up, it's screwed (no name or description, only quantity) when viewed via Stadium (while other items were normal...). However, notice that most items in DPPt onward have the same descriptions (like the Poké Balls or Rare Candy).Marked +-+-+ 13:46, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, couldn't you just connect Yellow to Stadium 2, since you said that causes the Stadium 1 description? --SnorlaxMonster 13:51, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Tried that. The same. And I can't trade items between them via Stadium, and no idea what would happen if I tried to use held items and Time Capsule. Marked +-+-+ 13:55, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

I guess we should get someone to look inside the game data of Stadium/Stadium 2 and see if there actually is a PP Up description. --SnorlaxMonster 13:57, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Protected page

Is it possible to tell whether a page is being protected or not and by whom, and if so, how? - unsigned comment from Arceustheomnipotent (talkcontribs)

If a page is protected so that you cannot edit it, the "edit this page" tab will be replaced with "view source". You can see if a page is protected and who protected it by clicking this tab. For example, when you click edit/view source on my most recent talk archive, you will see "12:45, 2 July 2011 SnorlaxMonster (Talk | contribs) protected "User talk:SnorlaxMonster/2011-1" [edit=sysop] (indefinite) [move=sysop] (indefinite) ‎ (Archive)" in a separate ox above the edit box. Likewise, you will see this for pages that have been autoconfirmed protected. "View source" will also replace "edit this page" on pages in the MediaWiki namespace, as only bureaucrats and higher can edit these pages, even without being protected. Furthermore, if you don't have userspace rights (you are not autoconfirmed or are in abuse), you will also see "view source" on pages in your userspace. --SnorlaxMonster 06:23, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Spading

When can we remove the spading tag? Judging from Spading article, the tag for Turnback Cave has been there for at least 2 years. A partarl answer was given to the question back in 2009. Truthseeker4449 11:59, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't really want to remove it. I believe that there are several room patterns, and each one has a 'correct' exit that leads to a pillar. Ideally, we would have images of them all labelled with the solution. --SnorlaxMonster 13:52, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Well if anyone is going to find out if there are room patterns and correct exits, I'll most likely find out since I'm training in Turnback Cave for the next few days. Truthseeker4449 20:52, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
17 Rare Bones, 2 stardusts, and 20 levels levels, I have come to a conclustion. There is no pattern, every time you reboot/enter a room, the door to the Pillar Room is moved. Thus, I will now submit my anwser to the spading page and remove the tag. Truthseeker4449 19:02, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, from what I had read, in every room one side had an inconsistency in its Rock Smash rock pattern, and that lead to the pillar room, but I guess that isn't true then. --SnorlaxMonster 01:14, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll likely go back to Turnback Cave sometime in future, once I can replise my Leppa Berry supply. If what you say is true, then that gives me somthing to start with. Truthseeker4449 17:34, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

My edit

So why do those dashes have to be there? They look awkward and misplaced. --HoennMaster 16:16, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Because the types are used as adjectives. When they are used as adjectives they must be hyphenated. Otherwose they are nouns and the sentence is gramatically incorrect. Werdnae (talk) 18:37, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Just for the record, today I came across the fact that the <type>- and <type>-type is used in the Victini commercial. --SnorlaxMonster 01:14, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

The Banette Regions

If you log in with say, an account set to France, no matter the language you use it will show you an announcement linking you to www.jeuxvideo.com to find the password. For each of the five known areas the URLs (and promotion times) are as follows:

UK and most other countries: http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/ 10/13/2011 00:00-12/07/2011 23:58 in UK
France: www.jeuxvideo.com, 10/12/2011 22:00-12/07/2011 23:58
Italy: SpazioGames.it, 10/12/2011 22:00-12/07/2011 23:58
Germany: http://de.spiele.yahoo.com/, 10/12/2011 22:00-12/07/2011 23:58
Spanish: http://3Djuegos.com, 10/12/2011 22:00-12/07/2011 23:58

There may be up to three undiscovered regions with different URLs and passwords too, but until someone discovers them, nobody knows... The same regions will be probably be used for Mamoswine when the others are enabled in a few days. Bluesun 21:50, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Scraggy

The reason I added that is because back when I edited it the "Ash" in Ash's scraggy was hidden. Not knowing why it was hidden, to be safe I hid a Scraggy is set to appear in BW055 like we always do. I don't find anything wrong with that, also your edit summary was a little rude, all I was trying to do was help out, like I always do. Have a good day. --Pokemaster97 15:51, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't intend to be rude. I just felt that leaving a hidden note in case it wasn't Ash's was unnecessary, as if it turned out that it wasn't, it would be added after the episode aired. I know we have the "not until it airs" policy, and I agree with it, but I also don't think we need to put every educated guess we make hidden on the page. I personally feel that things like that should be left until after it airs. Don't worry, I understand why you added it. --SnorlaxMonster 02:17, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh I understand where your coming from. Thank you for explaning. No hard feelings! --Pokemaster97 02:22, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Can you help me?

I have a problem on my hands. The page Template talk:Pt currently redirects to the deleted page Template talk:Ptt. Normally, I would paste a {{delete}}-tag on it. But at the location Template:Pt is currently a template, and thus, Template talk:Pt is that template's talk page. Now, what should I do? Should I paste a delete tag on it, it being a broken redirect? Or should I let it be, it being the talk page of Template:Pt? Thanks in advance. TyraniThrone 14:43, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

It shouldn't have been redirecting anyway—we don't use talk page redirects. Just letting me know here was enough. Thanks. --SnorlaxMonster 14:47, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Pokémon Lottery Corner

I'm questioning your accuracy for some of the quotes. Based on the trivia point here her name wasn't ever mentioned in Diamond and Pearl, and you have it mentioned in your quotes from Diamond and Pearl. Something is wrong here. MaverickNate 20:53, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

I just did the drawing, no name was mentioned. Truthseeker4449 21:33, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
It's not. I'm not sure how that got past me. I didn't manage to win today (I do have a lot of ID numbers, so I should win more often than not, but I have all the Backdrops), so I couldn't get the actual quote. Truthseeker4449, did you write down the quote? If so, please add it to the article. --SnorlaxMonster 08:11, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Harrison's Sneasel

Is Harrison's Sneasel enough important Pokémon of having its own article? At least what I see on the page would be pretty enough for a short but good article. If the answer is "Yes", I'm ready to push the "Save" button. --FinnishPokéFan92 11:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

If you really want to create an article, it's better to find something in Special:WantedPages. Of course, we currently need articles on Pokémon Rumble Blast, so if you have that game, you could help create some articles relating to it. Typing DS needs pages too, but it has only been released in Japanese. --SnorlaxMonster 11:56, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Autoconfirmed is something that you gain after making a certain number of edits and having an account for a certain number of days. Template Update

Hi, the table on this page wasn't sortable and a few days ago I realised that it sorts the table by the number of egg groups a Pokémon has and then by the number of egg cycles. So to make the table sortable I added None to the second egg group parameter, afterwhich a page for None was made to avoid all the red links. So I started to modify the Eggcyc template here, basically all I did was made it so that if the 2nd egg group parameter is empty it shows None unlinked and I added a * to show the number of steps needed for Pokémon prior to Gen III. Not a big change but could you update the template (when it is updated I'll remove all the "none"s from the egg cycle page). Pikiwyn talk 14:29, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

To be totally honest, I don't think it should be sortable. Because the groups are across two cells, with primary/secondary being irrelevant, the table doesn't work very nicely as sortable. --SnorlaxMonster 13:58, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I thought it was interesting to compare the egg cycles of different species though, but if sorting is unnecessary should the none egg groups be removed? Pikiwyn talk 15:15, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, it should. It doesn't really work very nicely, that's the issue. We do list all Pokémon in each Egg group on the Egg group pages themselves, so that should do what you wanted. --SnorlaxMonster 15:20, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I think you misunderstood though, the Egg group pages don't have the number of steps needed to hatch, quite a few people were bringing the issue of sortability of the number of steps needed up on the talk page, so I figured it was bothering people. Pikiwyn talk 22:57, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Oh, in that case only those columns need to be sortable, not the Egg group ones. I'll go fix this now. --SnorlaxMonster 00:51, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Still doesn't sort correctly (facepalm), it still seperates the Pokémon with one egg group from those with two, but I guess "semi-sortable" still makes it better than unsortable. Pikiwyn talk 21:49, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

I see the problem, but it's unrelated. There is a sortkey coded into the template that is making it behave weirdly. I'll fix it. --SnorlaxMonster 00:57, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Removed the sortkey entirely. I assumed it was there to help with the sorting of 1, 2, and 3-digit numbers all together, but I tried without it and it worked fine (whereas it didn't with it). If you have any further problems with the article, let me know. --SnorlaxMonster 01:04, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Does it work for you now? Because it's still the same for me, it looks like all Pokémon need to have the same number of rows for it to sort correctly. Pikiwyn talk 11:17, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Yep, works perfectly for me. I assume this is the exact same issue I'm having in the discussion two sections below this. Sorting is browser based, and I'm on Chrome which is not having issues when only numbers are in the box (I am having issues when there is a % in the box though). I'm currently trying to sort that out, and it is the same issue, so once I've fixed that I'll fix this too. --SnorlaxMonster 11:26, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
What you just did didn't affect the sorting for me (I use IE) and since it didn't work for LimeGreenCharizard, I assume it still doesn't work for Firefox either. Wouldn't it be better if Pokémon with only one egg group had a second egg group row saying none? It's kind of pointless, but it seemed to have worked before. Pikiwyn talk 11:56, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Actually, my fix on the other template worked fine (LGC said it did). This template however does seem to have an issue regarding merged cells. I found a workaround, and I'm currently playing with it until I fix it (in my userspace). When this issue is fixed, I'll let you know. i really would prefer merged cells, but if that can't happen, I guess we'll have to go with your original idea. --SnorlaxMonster 12:00, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I gave up and just settled for using — for no Egg group. I tried nested tables, but I needed a way to cause the nested tables to always fill the same space, which would require either an ugly monospace font, JavaScript to detect the string length (which I do not know nor know how to implement into MediaWiki, but I do know that it is possible), or use images instead of text. There is a bug in the way MediaWiki sorts which means that it does not get along with merged cells at all. The workaround I thought I found wasn't relevant. --SnorlaxMonster 12:55, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for that! Atleast it works now and I don't think the — looks bad. You can also delete None (egg group) since it's not being used anymore. Pikiwyn talk 13:19, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Not doing any harm. I'm just going to leave it. We have several similar redirects from poorly coded templates anyway. --SnorlaxMonster 13:20, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Attack galleries

Hello, SnorlaxMonster :)
I'm new to Bulbapedia and I'm needing some help...

Recently, I tried adding a Stadium 2 image to an attack gallery, but it looked too big. What can I do to solve that problem? Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks! --PenblooeR 02:36, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

You're doing nothing wrong. it's just that the template doesn't have the option to resize the image.--ForceFire 02:39, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
So do I have to resize the image? --PenblooeR 02:40, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, ideally you would just upload a smaller image. The reason it does resize is because images loose their ability to stay animated when resized. --SnorlaxMonster 02:44, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Template

Do you think that this and this should be changed to be sortable? I'm thinking the contest info can be removed, as well. "All details are accurate to Generation V games." -from the footer. LimeGreenCharizard 22:24, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Sortable? Certainly. Remove contest info? I suggested this to the other admins a while ago, but they didn't really like the idea. I agree with you here, but not every feels the same way. I'll ask again today. --SnorlaxMonster 00:51, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Is there any update on this? LimeGreenCharizard 10:32, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Yeah... kinda forgot to ask about this. No other admins are online at the moment (or at least none that I have on AIM, and I have virtually all of them), so I can't ask right now. Hopefully I will remember tomorrow. --SnorlaxMonster 10:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

The only thing I notice about the sortable now is that the numbers prioritize the first number over the number as a whole. Like, 100 is above 40 in Power. LimeGreenCharizard 10:52, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

I don't have that issue. Sorting these types of tables is generally done in the browser itself—which browser are you using? I may need to set up a sortkey to fix this. --SnorlaxMonster 10:54, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm on Firefox. LimeGreenCharizard 10:57, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Alright, how's that? Works fine for me. Turns out the accuracy and PP didn't sort propperly for me either because they weren't pure numbers, but they do now. --SnorlaxMonster 11:28, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
That seems to have done the trick!
Now the only other thing would be the Contest info. I still stand by it not being needed. It would also free up some width for the descriptions to spread out a bit. LimeGreenCharizard 11:42, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Although, the impending Ruby/Sapphire remakes will probably add Contest info to Gen V moves...so never mind. LimeGreenCharizard 16:53, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
I don't see those coming this generation, even if they do there is no guarantee that Contests will remain, and contest info can just be added back if we do get Contests gain. However, in my opinion at least, types have nothing to do with contests, as contest types have nothing to do with battles, so battle info should be removed from contest pages and vice versa. --SnorlaxMonster 04:28, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

{{BerryInfobox}}

Could you change the Japanese name of the Berries from Berry to Fruit for the reasons I posted in talk page? And if you don't believe me, use any translator or ask Umeko.--Den Zen 10:31, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

I checked my dictionary: it says み translates as either fruit, nut, or berry. Therefore, based on the English translation as well, I think berry would be the most appropriate translation. However, I will change it for now since you changed everything else, but I would like to get a second opinion from a translator. --SnorlaxMonster 10:38, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
This site is likely the best Japanese translator on the internet and it doesn't even mention "berry". Also, in One Piece, all 悪魔の実s (Akuma no Mis) are always translated as Fruits in all of its manga (both fan-translated and Viz version), dubs and anime subs.--Den Zen 10:56, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I see what you are saying. It is translated as fruit because that is a valid translation. However, the primary issue is that the Japanese do not consider the same things to be berries as western people. I would assume that the reason it is translated as berry is because what Japanese people consider to be fruit as 実 is what westerners would consider a berry. I think that fruit is probably the least presumptuous translation, and is certainly accurate, even if it does not reflect the intended meaning. I am not going to revert you, but I would still prefer if a translator (Umeko, blusesun, etc.) did translate this. --SnorlaxMonster 11:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Help

One other minor thing... Could you change this to include something like, "For details that have changed between generations, and for additional details, please see an individual move's page." ? LimeGreenCharizard 12:53, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

It's referring to the details listed in the table. I think it is fine as it is now. --SnorlaxMonster 04:28, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Targets

I'm sorry to be bothering you so much, but there seems to be a small issue with this and this regarding the target information for moves like Petal Dance and Outrage where the Target should be "Any adjacent foe". LimeGreenCharizard 16:14, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, that was because I updated the MoveInfobox after the Movelist/battle had been made and didn't fix the latter. --SnorlaxMonster 00:04, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for fixing it. LimeGreenCharizard 01:33, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I've been hard at work fixing all of these move tables and it seems Curse needs its own special Target information since, when Ghost-type, it affects 'Any Adjacent', and when not Ghost-type, it affects 'Self'. So could you fix this on the template pages? Or should I just put one or the other? LimeGreenCharizard 19:29, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Okay, with you splitting it up, I don't know if you missed this or not. LimeGreenCharizard 15:37, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Saw it, but I need to get around to it. I had two different ways I thought about doing it, but I would need to spend a bit of time doing it. --SnorlaxMonster 15:54, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Wouldn't this and this do the trick? (emphasis on the selfanyadjacent) And the same on the movelist/battle template. LimeGreenCharizard 05:39, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
I'd rather just use two target tables. More clear an more accurate. I do plan to fix it, but I've been really busy lately with IRL stuff. --SnorlaxMonster 13:11, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Event redirects

Could you handle those redirects on event 2009 page? I have no idea since there is no content about them. --» AKUro? あくロちゃん 11:21, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Signature move template

Hey, does this fine? Can I mainspace it? Pikiwyn talk 15:13, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

I think it is good, but Pokémon should be at where the first Pokémon introduced in their evolutionary line would be, not the baby. So the Pikachu line would be at 025 rather than 172. --SnorlaxMonster 15:21, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Ok, I'll fix that, I was also wondering about whether the type column should be removed? Pikiwyn talk 15:27, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Just did that before I saw your message. --SnorlaxMonster 15:28, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, the code's kind of messy though, I copied it from another template, so I think there's some things that don't do anything. Pikiwyn talk 15:32, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
I know exactly which template you copied it from—I coded that form switch. And yeah, when you copy code from another template you tend to get a few things designed with the other template's usage in mind. --SnorlaxMonster 15:34, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Yea there's still some coding I don't understand yet, so thanks for letting me copy it, I'll remove the types and mainspace it sometime tonight. Pikiwyn talk 15:44, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
I removed the types already. --SnorlaxMonster 15:52, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your help! Pikiwyn talk 16:12, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Wouldn't sortable make it look more organized? Pikiwyn talk 12:59, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
I'd rather keep merged cells. There isn't really any need to sort it. You can sort by dex number (which it already is), and what else? Moves are too arbitrary; I guess you could put the Pokémon in alphabetical order, but is that really necessary? --SnorlaxMonster 13:02, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

It could be used to sort Pokémon by the Generation they had their signature move in, but I guess you could do that easily by scrolling as well. Pikiwyn talk 13:08, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Triple battle targets

Do you really have to be that specific? I mean, two columns just for one move each? I don't know how wide your screen is, but on mine it's compressing the moves way too much. All of those moves technically affect "Self and adjacent ally", they just don't "Target" them. LimeGreenCharizard 04:51, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Helping Hand does nothing to the user. Rage Powder and Follow Me do nothing to allies; if an opponent (even a non-adjacent one) uses a move that could target the "center of attention" Pokémon, it will hit it. Ally Switch in fact affects only a non-adjacent ally, not an adjacent one. So even if you want to use who it affects rather than targets, you still get the same number of columns. --SnorlaxMonster 05:53, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
That wasn't even my point. It is way too compressed. Is there anything else we can do? LimeGreenCharizard 16:56, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
It is a bit squashed, but it isn't that squashed. I guess you could remove the "self" column of Ally Switch, Rage powder and Follow Me and mention them in the same way as Flame Burst is (the same would have to apply to double battle though). --SnorlaxMonster 07:32, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Glitch Pokémon stuffs

Well I was thinking, even though you can't catch #251-254 in the Gen I glitch Pokémon, you can still see them. They are present in some glitch trainers parties, would that be enough to write about them? And just a quick question, why are cheat-only glitch Pokémon allowed in everything but Gen I?--×Rsrdaman× 03:25, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

To be entirely fair, you can get them via the remaining HP glitch, but there is some unknown trigger that makes it sometimes not work. See here. I suspect that it may have been due to the Pokémon having been in Gen II at some point in time, but I don't know. This would cause the value stored in the "catch rate/held item" slot to change to no longer be 255. Alternately, I think Paco mentioned something about having FF in another slot in the data structure messing it up. The reason we have cheat-only Pokémon in Generation III+ is because the EB only decided to delete all cheat-only Gen I Pokémon because there were so many. I personally don't like letting them have articles either, which is why stuff like ----- focuses on how it can be seen without cheating. Anyway, I would rather not go into 251-254 yet, since we are still behind on the Johto guard glitch-exclusives. Just focus on them for now (but if you want to do research into the remaining HP glitch, go for it; just don't put it anywhere outside its own page yet). --SnorlaxMonster 15:18, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

And I found it. I think it is a bit vague to be a reference. Plus the logo doesn't resemble Ash's. --SnorlaxMonster 10:02, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Species as a whole?

Hello. I noticed that the article about Stunfisk was edited so that it reference to the species in a plural sense instead of a singular sense. I was wondering if this was something that should be done for all the Pokéemon articles, since most aren't written in that style. Thanks! Crystal Talian 03:05, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, like the Pokédex entries, we currently use about half of the articles singular and half plural. Plural is generally better though, as it is slightly more accurate. --SnorlaxMonster 07:29, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
I could work on fixing some of that up, then. I'm still learning my way around, so I'm trying to find smaller projects I can work on. Besides, I spend a lot of time browsing through the Pokémon pages, anyway. Crystal Talian 07:32, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Edit request for Template:Movegen

Could you add Battrio to the other Generations template? I brought it up on the talk page but no-one noticed it. It's protected, so it needs an Admin to do the job. Also, Merry Christmas! - unsigned comment from Vuvuzela2010 (talkcontribs)

You see, I'm hesitant to add Battrio because unlike Stadium etc., it is not a main or side series game. It is a spin-off game, and I consider the moves on the same level as PMD. (Are there other spin-offs that use moves?) Of course, I could just add them, and we could then break them up into the three sections: main series, side series, and spin-off. Merry Christmas to you too!. --SnorlaxMonster 02:15, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
The only other spin-off I know has moves is the Rumble series (and Smash Bros series has a couple). Breaking it up into sections sounds like a decent idea though.Vuvuzela2010 Δ 02:32, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I'll add all of them then. Based on the videos, Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition may or may not use them too. --SnorlaxMonster 05:03, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
The Smash Bros wiki has pictures for moves that are named after Pokémon moves (Volt Tackle, Thunder, Quick Attack, Skull Bash, Agility, Bullet Seed, Confusion, Disable, ExtremeSpeed, Flamethrower, Force Palm, Fly, Pound, Razor Leaf, Rest, Rock Smash, Rollout, Shadow Ball, Sing, Teleport, Vine Whip, Water Gun, Waterfall and Withdraw, also Triple Finish consists of Fire Blast, Hydro Pump and SolarBeam) however some function differently than in the Pokémon universe (eg. Double Team deals damage, instead of raising evasion) (also, Merry Christmas) Marked +-+-+ 10:36, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm happy with the way SSB is now. They're really moves in a different way. --SnorlaxMonster 14:50, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Now that I've just done it, I suddenly wondered if, due to Battrio being essentially re-released in situations such as Battrio V, do the moves' animations change? --SnorlaxMonster 16:19, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
I've not played the game*, so your probably better asking someone like Nuva-kal, since he/she just uploaded a bunch of Battrio Pucks recently. Also, could you fix the text for Mystery Dungeon TDS? The and appears black instead of white, cheers. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 17:05, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Help!!!!!!!!

My ipad can't see any pictures aside of the bulbapedia logo since 3 or maybe 4 pm, hk time! What should i do? (dont suggest reloading the browser or reopening the ipad; it doesn't work.)--My r6g4rdz, TEH GIGA-UBER-1337-HAX0R(Mr-ex777) 09:52, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

I have heard of people having similar issues, and it generally due to an overzealous internet filter or firewall. If you have recently changed your web security or privacy settings on your iPad, browser, or internet connection, check to make sure you haven't accidentally blocked the images. (I'm assuming that you used to get Bulbapedia images on your iPad.) --SnorlaxMonster 16:03, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Billim1

Hello SnorlaxMonster. I was wondering if you or someone at Bulbanews can also add the time zone change times for Alaska and Hawaii regarding the "Cartoon Network Pokémon timeslot changed in 2012" Bulbanews article. It already list ones for the Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time zones. Thank you! Billim1 16:14, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your concern. I also wanted to include these, but I couldn't find Pokémon on Cartoon Network's guide for Hawaii. Alaska isn't even listed as a timezone option. I would be happy to list them, but unless I know when Pokémon was/will be on, I cannot. --SnorlaxMonster 01:28, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Super Smash Flash

Okay, so there's this very popular fan game on the internet called "Super Smash Flash", and they're working on a sequel, while not a Pokémon game itself, it has Pokémon in it. Is it possible for me to make a User article about it? Pokedex493 22:21, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Fan games do not get their own pages, only sections on the page hack games, no matter how popular. Regardless, it is a Super Smash Bros. game, not a Pokémon game, and SSB is barely in our scope anyway, so it is not notable. --SnorlaxMonster 01:28, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Broken

In what way is it broken exactly? -tc²₆tc26- 14:23, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Screenshot. The line wrapping isn't great is the main issue with it right now. However, the reason I was asked to revert you was because you should try out templates in public first. This is something the staff want to push: putting templates in the userspace as practice first, giving a sample, then putting it in use after a few people have seen it. There really isn't much point putting it in the userspace at all if you aren't going to do public tests like that. The very reason for that is you get issues like the one I mentioned. --SnorlaxMonster 14:37, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Borders are a bit thick in places, IMO. /two cents —darklordtrom 22:10, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
