An Oran Berry (Japanese: オレンのみ Oran Fruit) is a type of Berry introduced in Generation III. It is the spiritual successor of the standard Berry from Generation II, having an identical effect when used on or by a Pokémon.

In the Generation V games, the Oran Berry can be sold to the gourmet maniac on Route 5 for $20.

Effect

Held item

Generation III

If the holder's HP is below 50% at the end of a turn, it will consume its held Oran Berry and restore 10 HP.

Generation IV onward

If the holder's HP falls below 50%, it will consume its held Oran Berry and restore 10 HP.

Generation V onward

If the holder's HP falls below 50%, it will consume its held Oran Berry and restore 10 HP. Due to a glitch, dropping below half HP by taking self-inflicted damage from confusion will not activate the Oran Berry.

Bag item

When used from the Bag on a Pokémon, it restores 10 HP to that Pokémon. It is consumed after use.

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it restores 20 HP to the Pokémon, and can also be thrown near wild Pokémon to draw their attention.

Effect

It is a food item that restores HP by 100 and Belly by 5RBTDSGtI/2SMDRTDX. In Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, if the user's max HP is less than 100 or their HP is full, it temporarily increases max HP by 10 for that dungeon.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, there is also an item called the Oren Berry that damages the user by 10 HP, but looks the same as the Oran Berry on a dungeon floor.

In Gates To Infinity, it heals 100 HP when consumed.

Pokémon Sleep

Oran Berry in Pokémon Sleep

The Oran Berry is available in Pokémon Sleep as one of the Berries that can be gathered by helper Pokémon and fed to Snorlax.

Effect

Oran Berries raise Snorlax's Strength, doubling the effect if the Berry is Snorlax's favorite. The base amount of Strength raised by the Berry is determined by the level of the helper Pokémon that gathered it.

Acquisition

Oran Berries can be gathered by Water-type helper Pokémon in the player's team. Like all Berries in the game, gathered Oran Berries do not go into the player's inventory and instead are immediately eaten by Snorlax.

Pokémon UNITE

In Pokémon UNITE, Oran Berries appear as part of Greedent's moveset. Greedent drops an Oran Berry into play when using its boosted Basic Attack and Defense Curl, as well as when taking damage due to the effects of the Cheek Pouch ability. The moves Stuff Cheeks and Covet drop multiple Oran Berries. Eating Oran Berries restores the user's HP. Player characters other than Greedent, including Greedent's opponents, are able to eat the Oran Berries. Oran Berries stay on the ground for 10 seconds before disappearing. Lastly, Greedent eats an Oran Berry during its Unite Move, Berry Belly Flop, healing in the process.

Oran Berry is one of the most frequently appearing Berries in the anime, commonly used to heal weakened Pokémon.

Oran Berries debuted in The Lotad Lowdown, where they were being grown at the Pretty Petal flower shop.

In Just One of the Geysers, Oran Berries were seen inside Brawly's fridge.

In Pokéblock, Stock, and Berry, Oran Berries were being sold at the Lilycove Berry Market.

In Berry, Berry Interesting, Oran Berries were used for Pokéblock production.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate!, Team Go-Getters used an Oran Berry to restore Pichu's health, and later split another one to restore each member of Team Meanies.

Oran Berries appeared in Like It or Lup It!.

In Leave It To Brocko!, Brock gave some Oran Berries to a wild Nuzleaf.

In Cooking Up a Sweet Story!, Oran Berries were seen in Abigail's Berry basket.

Oran Berry trees appeared in Buizel Your Way Out Of This!. Buizel was also seen eating a Berry from said trees.

Oran Berries appeared in Hungry for the Good Life!.

In Trials and Adulations!, Dawn had her Ambipom bring some Oran Berries for her injured Mamoswine.

In Promoting Healthy Tangrowth!, a wild Tangrowth that was using Absorb to steal other Pokémon's energy in order to restore a damaged tree left Meowth an Oran Berry to restore his drained energy.

In Three Sides to Every Story!, Oran Berries were growing at Lulu's garden.

Oran trees appeared in PK21. Meowth tried to pick up a Berry, but he accidentally grabbed Marill's tail. Marill then proceeded to use Sing, putting Meowth, Wobbuffet, and Mime Jr. to sleep.

In The Brockster Is In!, Brock mixed some Durin and Oran Berries into an energy drink to medicate a poisoned Pichu. However, Pichu was too weak to drink the medicine, and was instead healed when Brock's Happiny evolved into Chansey and used Soft-Boiled on it.

In A Venipede Stampede!, Iris gave a wild Venipede an Oran Berry.

In Ash and Trip's Third Battle!, Iris challenged Ash to a race to an Oran tree and back. However, since the two ran into Trip along the way, the race was never finished.

In White—Victini and Zekrom and Black—Victini and Reshiram, Oran Berries were seen in Eindoak Town.

Oran Berries appeared in The Beartic Mountain Feud!.

In Baffling the Bouffalant!, Iris gave a wild Bouffalant an Oran Berry.

In All for the Love of Meloetta!, Iris and Cilan found an Oran tree on a cliff. Iris used her Emolga to pick up a Berry from the tree and take it to the sick Meloetta.

In a flashback in Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice, Keldeo and Virizion were seen eating Oran Berries.

In The Name's N!, N gave Ash's Pikachu an Oran Berry to help it recover from James's Amoonguss's attack.

In The Island of Illusions!, Oran Berries were used as part of a medicine.
