Reggie (Japanese: レイジ Reiji) is Paul's older brother. He is a Pokémon Breeder living in Veilstone City. He is voiced by 柿原徹也 Tetsuya Kakihara in Japanese and Tom Wayland in English.

Unlike his younger brother, he treats his Pokémon with love and care and thanks them after working hard in a battle.

He has earned the 8 badges from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. He has also challenged the Battle Frontier and won six of the seven Frontier Symbols. It is unknown in what order he did this; however, the badges and symbols are on the fireplace mantle in order from right to left of Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Johto and the Battle Frontier, which may possibly indicate the order in which they were obtained.

It was revealed in Lost Leader Strategy! that Paul had left his Electabuzz with Reggie for training. During this meeting, he and Ash battled in a three-on-three match; although Ash's Staravia lost to his Swalot, Turtwig and Pikachu successfully defeated his Bibarel and Staraptor respectively.

In Crossing the Battle Line!, Reggie and his Staraptor helped Ash's Staravia to learn Brave Bird.

He appeared again in Enter Galactic! where he used Paul's Electabuzz to help Ash fight Team Galactic.

It was mentioned in Lost Leader Strategy! that Reggie takes care of Paul's other reserve Pokémon as well. In Enter Galactic!, Paul asked Reggie to send Electabuzz back so he could use it to fight the Pastoria Gym Leader.

Other Pokémon seen in Reggie's care

Starly

Bidoof

Kricketot

Shinx

Budew

Cherubi

Stunky

Kangaskhan

It is unknown if any of these Pokémon belong to Paul; possibly none of them, given Paul's recruitment methods. Also, Paul may not be the only trainer Reggie looks after Pokémon for and the above ones may belong to other unknown trainers.

Trivia

  • Reggie's Japanese name, Reiji, contains "Rei," and Paul's Japanese name is Shinji. Shinji and Rei are both names of characters from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
  • Reggie has Staraptor and Bibarel, the final evolved forms of the first two available wild Pokémon in the Sinnoh region, Starly and Bidoof respectively, both of which are under his care as well.
  • Bidoof, Starly, Kricketot, Shinx, and Budew, five of the Pokémon under his care, are all seen at the beginning of the player's journey in Diamond and Pearl.
