Description | This cautious Electric-type Gym Leader sets a lot of traps in his Gym. He excels at paralyzing his opponents in battle. |
Lt. Surge (Japanese: マチス Matisse) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series. He forms a sync pair with Voltorb and its evolved form, Electrode. This sync pair was first made available since the game release. This pair could be raised to 6★ EX beginning on March 25, 2023.
Lt. Surge also forms a sync pair with his Raichu. This sync pair was first made available on May 31, 2021. This pair could be raised to 6★ EX beginning on March 29, 2023, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Trivia
Origin
Lt. Surge's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Lt. Surge uses Voltorb during his Gym battle with the player in the Kanto-based core series games, while doing the same with Electrode in the Johto-based core series games. Voltorb and Electrode's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ruby.
Raichu is Lt. Surge's signature Pokémon in the core series games and the anime, being his highest-level Pokémon in the Kanto-based games. Raichu's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
