Mistralton Cave first appeared in A Week to Go and Old Wounds. Wanting to find a Legendary Pokémon in hopes to impress Drayden and let him enter the Pokémon League with just seven Badges, Black went to the cave, following a clue received from Iris. At the cave, he met Shoko as well as Trish from the Riches family, who were also looking for Legendary Pokémon said to live in the cave, although Shoko was very reluctant of doing so. In the cave, they encountered the Swords of Justice, which easily gained upper hand over their Pokémon with their combination attacks. When one of the group's torches accidentally started a fire in the cave, the Swords of Justice rescued one of Shoko's Patrat which had gotten separated from the others, broke out of the cave, and put out most of the fire. While Trish and Shoko ran out, Black stayed behind, using Costa to put out the remaining flames.
